Favorite Fall Hobbies to do at Home

You guys! It’s one of my favorite times of year for crafting. Being in the PNW we start losing light, fast. We get 8 hours of daylight, and that sunlight is grey due to the rain. I know, such a downer. However, the silver lining is crafting! So, I thought I would share all my Favorite Fall Hobbies to do at Home!

These hobbies always get me through rough rainy days when it’s not worth leaving the house, even for a cup of coffee.

Favorite Fall Hobbies to do at Home

I feel like I should write a Fall series this year. I’ve already written posts on 29 Things to Do in the Fall, This Year’s Fall Bucket List, and The Best Fall Comfort Movies. This one goes right along with those! I can’t wait for cool brisk mornings, bundled in my favored cozy sweater, and drinking my earl grey tea.

Sewing

I’ve very recently gotten back into sewing this year. It’s become a hobby that eases my anxiety because I’m not focusing on anything but the puzzle at hand. This year I have a lot of plans for Autumn clothing items. However, I underestimated my workload this season (at my 9-5) and I’m already fearful of Falling behind. So, a lot of my sewing projects might need to wait for next year. Especially because I’m having a hard time finding fabric I love.

Knitting

This is something I am determined to do this year! I have always wanted to learn but every time I start, I give up. This year is my year! Plus, the thought of curling up by the fire with a knitting project, apple cider in my mug, and an audiobook?? Nothing sounds more perfect.

I bought a sweater pattern from Well Loved Knits and am looking for the perfect color yarn.

Reading

Oh gosh, Fall is my favorite time to read. Especially just before bed. I love snuggling up, surrounded by pillows, and reading a great thriller or cozy romance book. I’m beyond excited to make some headway on my TBR list this year.

A few books are:

Embroidery

I used to embroider all the time when I was in high school. It was something my Aunt got me into before she passed. I would spend hours listening to music, gossiping with my best friend on the phone, or in front of the TV making lovely designs.

If you’re new to embroidery and want to get started, amazon and Etsy have some great kits. I love all the floral and woodland creatures. My big advice for embroidery is to make sure you not only love the design but also know how you’ll use it in the future. If not, it’ll sit in your closet and never see the light of day.

Embroidery makes great patches for jeans, artwork, and accent pillowcases!

Re-watching Movies

As mentioned, there’s a list of movies I love to watch in Autumn here. Sometimes I have them on as background noise and/or ambiance when working on other activities. I consider this a hobby because I’m a movie buff and genuinely don’t feel like it’s Fall without watching some of these.

Puzzles

Oh my gosh. I love doing puzzles with my family. It’s not something I love to do solo because I don’t have the space in my apartment. However, it’s something I truly enjoy working on with my siblings. We chat, snack, and laugh.

Crocheting

I grew up crocheting because that’s what my mom knew how to do. Again, I spent hours and hours of my time crocheting scarves. However, now as an adult, I’ve realized I didn’t keep any of them because they were always so itchy. My goal is to invest in quality yarn. So, I’ll actually wear my creations.

Baking

Final hobby, my friends! I utterly adore this time of year for baking breakfast goods. Sure, I make the occasional brownie but coffee cake, apple cinnamon oat bars, and pumpkin spice muffins are where I thrive. I look forward to my savory treat and my tea in the mornings. Which is why I tend to bake so much this time of year. It’s a twofer! A hobby and a treat.

Thank you so much for reading! I would love to know some of your Favorite Fall Hobbies to do at Home. Please share them in the comments below.
