Hello Again, Queen Anne

Teal tiled Kitchen from Queen Anne, Seattle

Hi Everyone!

If you hadn’t noticed by the photo above, I finally found a new place! It’s exactly where I want to be in my favorite sector of Seattle, Queen Anne.
When I started my search at the end of last month I had a full list of apartment “must haves”: a balcony, a dishwasher, an in-unit washer and dryer, modern look and the perfect location.

I toured around the city, checked out Ballard and Greenlake, even drove through Magnolia but nothing stuck with me like Queen Anne did.

My parents came into the city to tour a modern apartment with me. The place was way over my budget at the middle top of the hill and… I hated it. I couldn’t understand why. It was everything I had said I had wanted, except the price. Then my Dad said “Al, I’m surprised you’re looking at modern apartments. They’re not really your style”.

That’s why he’s my Dad. It always shocks me when he knows me better than I know myself.

The next place I toured felt like home immediately. There’s no way to explain it. The energy of the complex felt happy and well loved. The people seemed mature and, even though it has a pink bathroom, the unit felt right. There’s so much natural light!

I took one of my girlfriends to check it out with me. She asked all of the questions I always forget to ask: How much does the rent go up a year? How big is the water heater? Is it loud at night because of the street traffic? Etc.

Girlfriends are the best friends.

I viewed the whole complex in less than 30 minutes and asked for an application on the spot. It was the right fit. It’s exactly where I want to be and the location is the most important part of moving. Especially when you feel safe and know the area.

The unit has carpet throughout, which I wasn’t excited about but the price is right and it’ll keep me nice and toasty in the winter. The kitchen has a beautiful teal tile from the 50s that I get more and more obsessed with every time I see it. There is so much storage that I don’t think I own enough to fill it up. I have no excuse for a messy room from here on out.

I’m so excited to begin this new journey in Queen Anne!
