5 Places I Want to Visit in the New Year

For blogmas day number 18, I’m going rogue and sharing the 5 Places I Want to Visit in the New Year! Spoiler, only one is in the US. Haha! I think I’ve been trapped long enough in the states and am dying to break free. Let’s see if I can make it happen!

5 Places I Want to Visit in the New Year

I’m excited to get back into travel but I think I’ll be traveling on a budget in the new year. Since paying off my student loans, car, and becoming debt-free (yay me!!), I’ve been lenient with my cash. In my defense, life is short and I deserved it.

I worked hard and, don’t worry, I’ve been asked to share more about my debt-free journey next year. So, you’ll see a lot more on budgeting and saving in the future. Til then, here’s my travel list!

Copenhagen, Denmark

This city has been on the “happiest places in the world” list for the past 5+ years. It’s well-known and I’m dying to find out for myself. It’s rumored to be very expensive but they’re a bike-friendly city and have loads of public parks and free galleries! This means, if there’s a will… there’s a way!

Vienna, Austria

I’ve been wanting to go to Vienna for a while but I watched The Spy Who Dumped Me and, more recently, Grey Man, and now I’ve GOT to go. Both have scenes in Vienna and it’s stunning! This is also a city I want to visit with my Mom. I think we would have so much fun window shopping, getting espressos at an outdoor café, and people-watching.

New Orleans, Lousiana, USA

Eep! One of my lifelong dreams is to visit during Fat Tuesday. Since the pandemic? Not anytime soon. Hahaha!

I would much rather go during the dead season. Either way, my friend is desperate to go back and she’s a foodie. So, I know we’re going to have the best time. Plus, I have Haitian roots in New Orleans. It feels like a must!

Sydney & Melbourne, Australia

I feel like these two can be put together because, well, it’s an 18-hour flight from Seattle. So IF I get to Australia, it’s going to be for weeks.

I know I can do Australia on a budget, especially alone. The majority of the time will be spent at the beach and trying every shiraz I can get my hands on. 😊 I’ve had the Sydney Harbour Bridge on my climbing bucket list since I was about 15. This just might be the year!

Montreal, QC, Canada

A few years ago my brother had to go to Montreal for work. He sent me a picture of the street his hotel was on. His text? “I can’t believe you don’t live here“. HAHA! That alone convinced me I need to explore it.

I love that you can take a train from Vermont or New York to get there. Which makes me wonder if I can make it into a double trip. 🤔 Bonus, I can practice my french!

What are the 5 places you want to travel to next year?? What am I missing from this list? Should I scratch one off for another?

Hope you’re all having a great holiday season.

When I was in college, my sister and I went to Montreal. Actually, we went two summers in a row because we clearly loved it. 🙂 Last summer, she went back for the first time since then, and she and her family all loved it. She said it was even better than she remembered.

I was in New Orleans only once for a bachelorette party weekend. It was great, and I wish I’d had more time to explore. I’d go back in a heartbeat.

I’ve been to any of your other destinations, but they sound amazing. Hope you’re able to make it to all five!
