5 Destinations I Want to Travel to with My Mom

I get my wanderlust and love for travel from both my grandmother and my mom. My granddaddy used to work for PanAm in the 70s and 80s. So they did a lot of international travel at a very minimal expense. My mom is an amazing travel partner because she’s, generally, up for anything. So, I thought I’d write a post on the 5 Destinations I Want to Travel to with My Mom.

My first international trip was with my mom and I was so grateful for her guidance. I honestly learned so much abroad with her that the thought of going back to normal life made me cry. I was completely hooked!

5 Destinations I Want To Travel to With My Mom

My mom has literally been all over the world. There are few places she hasn’t been but we discovered there were destinations she would love to see again.

When she was in high school, she went to a catholic boarding school in Rome. We went back, 30+ years later. She was at awe to experience the city as an adult but also to see what had changed and what hadn’t. It became a game to her and she loved finding her old favorite spots again.

Which is why the first place on my list to visit with my mom is…

Lisbon, Portugal

My mom would take the train from Rome to Lisbon when she studied abroad. She gushes about the seafood and I’m convinced if I were with my Mom, it would be the best experience ever. She knows how to eat, and I know my wines!

We’re also both a sucker for architecture.

Salzburg, Austria

My mom’s favorite movie is The Sound of Music. I cannot imagine going to see the Von Trapp Family house without her with me!

Plus, Salzburg is supposed to be extremely clean with gorgeous views of the Eastern Alps throughout the city. Munich is the closest airport and I know we’d both enjoy the train ride getting there.

Vermont, USA

I would go without my mom to Vermont but she once told me she loves New England in the Fall. I know she would love going to all the small towns and would want to pop into every shop. She love wearing scarves and, as Autumn is the season of scarves, I can totally see her loading up on them and coffee.

New York City, New York, USA

Both my parents are from Long Island and every time I’ve gone into the city for work they send me a list of treats to bring back with one. Including, you guessed it, an entire pepperoni pizza in my suit case. I’ve brought everything back imaginable. Glazed almonds from the street stand, bagels, a tub of smear, a buttered roll from a 7-11. Everything.

Going with my mom would be the ultimate food tour. She knows all the best places and I just know we’d have a blast going to shows and walking through central park.

The Beach in the Summer, Anywhere, Earth

Like mother, like daughter. We’re both beach bum geminis and we cannot help it. There is nothing better than soaking up vitamin d with 20 books to read, and a salami sandwich at our side for a snack. We’d stay to dusk, grab dinner at a restaurant up the shore and sleep like queens.

I just love my mom! Where are the only places you want to travel with your mom?
