Life in Seattle: The Perfect Summer Day

If you’re new here, I’m going to tell you a big secret. One of the most beautiful places in the world is the PNW in the summertime. There’s very little rain and it’s full of greenery, wildlife, and genuine happiness from the locals.

Yes, we’re still doped up on coffee but we’re all high on vitamin D! Not only that but the city is open and booming with life. Every outdoor seating venue is booked and reserved. We’re all desperate to soak it all in before October rolls around and the leaves start to change.

With all that said, let’s get into my Life in Seattle: The Perfect Summer Day.

Life in Seattle: The Perfect Summer Day

If I had it my way, every day would be summer. However, we wouldn’t be surrounded by greenery without the rain. Seattle would turn into a desert and, I’m not into that. I like paddle boarding too much.

The best way to spend your Seattle morning in the summer

Seattle mornings are beautiful and crisp. A lot of the times it starts out cloudy and grey, only to burn off by 11am. Here’s my ideal morning….

Get killer coffee & breakfast

Seattle is known for having unique independent cafés and coffee shops. Though home to the biggest coffee company in the world, we locals try to support locals.

Some of my favorites:

Go out for a hike!

There’s nothing better than getting up early for a hike on a beautiful summer day. I recently went back to Lake Twenty-Two on a summer day and forgot how much I loved it.

Paddleboarding

Omg, it’s a very good day when I’m able to grab a cooler full of snacks and get out on the water. There are so many terrific spots around the Seattle area and on the outskirts. One of my go-to’s is Lake Bellinger.

What to do in the afternoon

The afternoons in the summer is where it heats up and FAST. I love being outside but normally in a shaded area. So, I’m still getting my vitamin D but I’m also not roasting…

Tacossssss

Listen, enough said. Right? Do you like Street Tacos? I gottchu!

Yummy Taco places in Seattle:

  • Gracias – Love the pollo asado, vegetarian, & al pastor a la carte tacos!
  • Marination – For their Kalbi Beef Tacos & Sexy Tofu Tacos… and mac salad!!

Read at the park

This brings me so much joy. Truly, it makes me so happy to pack up a little cooler filled with snacks, water, and a little dessert. Then spend the whole afternoon outside on a blanket reading.

Go to the bookstore or the library

One summer I had been laid off from my job and all I did was go to the library and read at the park. It was an epic summer and I didn’t want to go back to work ever again. Alas, then I realized if I wanted to buy books at the local bookshop… I really needed to get one.

The perfect Seattle summer evening

Summer evenings in Seattle are perfection. There’s no other way to descibe them. It’s a time when the city calms down after an adventure robust day and everyone is chilling on a patio, beach, or pouch. Here’s how I love to spend them…

Breweries with friends in Ballard!

We have tons and tons of breweries throughout the entire city but my choice is Ballard because everything is within walking distance of one another. There’s always a food truck or two around the area. I’ve got most of them in a post here.

Catch a cotton candy sunset over the sound

I’m a little biased, my favorite place to catch the sunset is strolling through the west side of Queen Anne but here are a few other spots:

  • Discovery Park, Magnolia
  • Six Seven Restaurant – in the Edge Water Hotel lounge.
  • Golden Gardens, Ballard – you can reserve a fire pit on the beach front
  • Alki Beach, West Seattle

This is the greatest season in Seattle, by far. I wait through 9 months of rain to vast in our beautiful greenery in the summertime.

I hope you guys enjoyed this post and found it helpful if you’re coming out to visit! Let me know your perfect summer things to do in the comment box below.
