The Best Seattle Coffee Shops with Vegan Treats

Welcome to the only guide to Seattle Coffee Shops you need… especially if you’re dairy-free or vegan! I’ve been taking notes over the past few years. Making a list, checking it twice. 😉 I never thought I would be writing posts about vegan anything on my blog. Yet. Here we are, 11 years after my surgery (one that caused me to be dairy intolerant), hunting down The Best Seattle Coffee Shops with Vegan Treats.

One of the first things I look for , in a new city, are coffee shops. Sure, I can have bagels but it gets old after a while and I want something different or unique to the area. I’m always so excited when cafes think about their allergic or vegan customers like that.

Since Seattle is known for coffee, let’s add some good vegan treats for the perfect combo!

The Best Seattle Coffee Shops with Vegan Treats

This list is in alphabetical order, which I never do. I normally go by region but I didn’t want to separate tourists from Seattleite readers. If you’re dying to try these places and you are a tourist, please remember the outskirt neighborhoods are harder to get to.

However – The lightrail just expanded out to Northgate. So, getting closer to Greenlake, etc just got a whole lot easier!

Other than that, it’s easiest to get to these place via car or public transit (bus).

Café Con Todo

Vegan waffles, anyone?

That’s right! They’re so hard to come by and only a few cafes in Seattle that has them… but Café Con Todo promises vegan/GF vanilla waffles, along with vegan avocado toast or a vegan breakfast burrito. All while serving Slate Coffee, Steepologie teas and smoothies!

Cinnamon Works

To start – Their cookies weigh 1/2 a pound. HALF an lb! Haha! They have 5 vegan flavors (including snickerdoodle) and a great assortment of vegan breads (cinnamon swirl, banana, etc), muffins and cinnamon rolls! Cinnamon Works also supplies a local coffee roasterie from Vashon Island!

Flora Bakehouse

An addition to the delightful vegetarian diner, Cafe Flora, is Flora Bakehouse. This new cafe features fabulous pastries, breads and other treats right along with your Stumptown latte to go. Not everything on their menu is catered to vegans but there’s a nice selection.

Flying Apron

These guys have everything you could possibly need or want that is vegan. Not only do they have coffee but they also have quality meals (like lasagna, pot pie & pizza)! Get a slice of any of their cakes, you will not regret. I’ve tried just about everything behind their glass counter. It’s a place I always make sure to stop into when I’m in West Seattle.

You can also find their products scattered across the city.

Heartbeet Organic Superfoods Cafe

These guys only serve a cold brew coffee however, their treat selection is amazing and unique. They have brilliant desserts from pies to raw truffles. I highly recommend the strawberry cream pie or any of their bars. If you’re looking for a healthy treat, this is a great stop for a smoothie, beet shots and aloe vera juice. More into hot drinks? Try their Golden Chai or Flu Buster to-go.

Hot Cakes

These guys create a vegan hot molten gooey brownie cake to die for. Add a cappuccino to your order and you’ll be in heaven! There are two locations (Ballard & Cap Hill) the serve up tons of gf & df options. If you’re looking for vegan, I recommend the vegan grilled cheese and tomato soup, a vanilla milkshake and a The Other Chocolate Chip cookie. Yummm.

Macrina Bakery Cafés

A staple in Seattle for breads, pastries and cakes. However, they also have a small selection of vegan treats for those who need a mid-day snack with their coffee. I recommend getting there early because they are very popular, especially their vegan pumpkin scones & chocolate chip cookies. Don’t forget to grab a Greek Olive loaf to-go!

Might-O donuts

Serving Caffe Vita coffee (one of my favorites) along with organic non-gmo vegan cakey donuts… Mighty-O’s is the ultimate one stop satisfying stop on this grand vegan treat tour. I recently found out they have a location out in greenlake, which is a total game changer when meeting up with friends. This place has amazing flavored traditional donuts, and a few yeast-raised (for those who like them filled). 10 out of 10, recommend.

You can find Mighy-O’s at numerous locations in Seattle, including: Cafe Fiore, Victorla Coffee Cafe, A Muddy Cup, etc.

Nuflours

This little coffee shop/bakery is close to my heart because I used to live down the street from it. It’s deep Capitol Hill over on 13th street but it’s absolutely worth the trek over there for their drip coffee and classic brownie. If I had a bad day at work, I often treated myself to their Raspberry Streusel Bar. This shop prides themselves on being 100% vegan, gluten-free AND peanuts and rice free.

Seattle is a super accommodating city. Many owners try to have a few vegan items on their menu (which is great for those traveling and forgot to bring a snack). Let me know if you’ve checked out any of these places before. I’d love to hear what you thought of them!
