Monthly Subscriptions That Are Actually Worth It

While at the beach, my friend and I were discussing if we thought Netflix was still worth it. We logged into her account and it took us 30 minutes of riffling only to move over to Amazon Prime. We found a movie in 2 minutes there! This had us talking about Monthly Subscriptions That Are Actually Worth It, especially going into a post-pandemic world.

Monthly Subscriptions That Are Actually Worth It

This post has been about re-evaluating my subscription services. I took out all my streaming services because I realized that was a completely different post. I’ll add a link to that post when it’s published but in the meantime, here are some great Hobby, Food, Local, and Wellness subscriptions that I think are totally worth it.

Hobby subscriptions

Work/Life/Balance is something we all should be striving for. A great way to make sure you stay steady on a passion project is to get a subscription box! I recently signed up for a stationary box and I’m so excited. I love writing postcards and sending cards on occasions to friends and family. Here are some personal favorites!

Patreon

I was chatting with my friend over the weekend about this and she admitted that she subscribed to her favorite vlogger’s Patreon. To her, it’s worth the extra content, videos, and art. Plus, she loves that she’s supporting an artist directly and all the extra goodies she gets from subscribing.

Tasty subscriptions

I love getting mail but what do I love more? Treats in the mail!

Local subscriptions

Supporting locals is a huge passion of mine and I try to encourage everyone to do the same. Support your community will support your home. Here are some favorites:

  • Wine Club – As you guys know I belong to Airfield’s winery and I love it. I get a discount and free tastings every time I stop in. Washington’s wines are getting better and better every year. If you have a winery near you, I recommend checking out the benefits!
  • Produce CSA Box – I’ve never done these but it’s generally by week. I have friends who do them every year but I have a farmer’s market down the street from me.
  • Arts – Join your local ballet or theater! I think this is totally worth the money unless you can’t make any of the performances.
  • Museum – This is a great one to join because normally there are monthly events they put on for members. Well worth it.
  • Non-profit organizations – I was in the Junior League for years and am now a sustainer. It was absolutely worth the annual membership fee for monthly connections and volunteer events.

Wellness subscriptions

Broken out into a few to keep it organized!

Fitness

  • Les Mills – My favorite online source for workouts. Everything from bodypump, kickboxing to yoga.
  • Your local yoga studio – I was a yogi for a long time. I cannot wait to join my local studio again.

Self-Care

  • Probiotic – I get it once every month and it’s worth every penny.
  • Toilet paper – I love this idea. I am one person and terrible at recognizing when I’m almost out.
  • Amazon – One thing I love about Amazon is its subscription feature for products. I don’t know about you but I’m terrible about remembering to buy certain things when I run out. I was out of q-tips for, like, 3 weeks before breaking down and adding them to my cart. Then set up the subscribe feature to ask me about it in 6 months.
  • Vella Box candles – I go through about one soy candle a month. It helps make my apartment a cottage home. I’m very pro-candle.

Monthly subscriptions aren’t dead. If you’re not using your streaming service or only using 1/2 of what comes in a box, then you should re-evaluate. Normally I can share with a friend or family member though. It doesn’t feel like a waste of money when I do that.

Hope you enjoyed this one!
