2021 Recap & Goals for 2022

What a year! This year felt so much better than the last two. Despite having another variant circulating, flights being canceled and it dumping snow in the PNW, this was one of the best holiday seasons I’ve had in a long time.

If 2020 taught us anything, it was: flexibility and change.

If 2021 taught us anything, it’s to: never take a single moment for granted.

2021 Recap & Goals for 2022

This was my year to take blogging more seriously. Much more than I have in the previous 20 years I’ve had/owned blogs. However, this was the year I decided to test myself. Finding out what months were working for blogging and what was not.

I learned a lot about my blogging boundaries and feel confident going into 2022. Which is more than I can say for how I felt in 2020. So, let’s recap, shall we?

2021 Recap

  • Blog posts posted: 68
  • Total words written: 64,136
  • Average word per post: 957
  • Most popular post: Hiking Lake 22 (Verlot, Washington)
  • Trips taken: 6
  • Places visited: 14
  • Miles traveled: 15,463.7
  • Books read: 9
  • Audiobooks completed: 17

Highlights:

  • Favorites Travel: My Solo Southern Road Trip, which I will be writing so much more about in 2022 because I was able to visit Savannah, Charleston and Asheville in the span of a week and a half. Then I changed my flight last minute to go to Upstate New York before heading home.
  • Favorite Travel Experience: Taking a Bike Tour through Savannah, Georgia. I cannot recommend enough. More on that in my: The Best 7 Things to Do Solo In Savannah post.
  • Favorite Mini Getaway: When one of my best friends and I went to Walla Walla, WA and drank our way through the valley.
  • Favorite Series to Write About: My Books & Bottles Series. Which will return in 2022, but with a new format!

Goals for 2022

  • Trips to take: 12
  • Books to read: 12
  • Audiobook to complete: 26

Blog Goals

This year I’m working on streamlining and processes. I am pretty organized but I could be better, especially with photos and where to store them.

  • Social Media: In 2021, I learned that I don’t like instagram. Twitter is my preferred social media home and I think it’s because I feel like I can be myself on that platform.
  • Email: I realized, when IG went down, that I don’t own the platform. Which means, I can’t get in touch with that audience when it goes down again. Therefore, I need to build my own list of followers as a way to keep in touch with all of you. I’d love to add you to my weekly email. I send out my latest blog posts and will be adding insider newsletters in 2022. (See below to sign up!)
  • Youtube: Something I’d like to try but I’m not married to. I think it would be fun to show how I travel through video and not just through the written word.

Personal Goals

I’ve had the most fun listening to audiobooks and planning the next few years out this month. Nothing is set in stone, but here are my personal goals (without giving too much away).

Finances
  • Big savings goal for 🤐
  • Small yearly goal for 🤫
  • Yearly depleting travel fund 🧳
  • Get financial advise 🤑
  • Maximize AMEX points 💳
Mental Health & Wellness
  • Continue seeing my therapist twice a month
  • Gain muscle back to feel healthy and strong again
  • Find happiness in everyday things (like my morning cup of tea 🤩)
  • Hike throughout Spring, Summer & Fall
Lifestyle
  • Focus on my own happiness, and literally no one else’s (it’s my turn & something I’ve been working with my therapist on. This is my year!)
  • Organize my apartment for functionality (aka get rid of clutter and everything I don’t use this year)
  • Explore new places within the US

For the past 6 years, I’ve created a Pinterest vision board. It’s something that helps me manifest my long-term goals.

It’s a private board. I don’t share it with anyone. I don’t want to be persuaded out of something just because it’s not societally normal or not trendy. Especially if it’s something I truly want for myself.

It’s something I recommend all my friends do. Leave a comment if it’s something you do every year too!

Wishing you all a very happy, healthy, and safe 2022. 💕
