Fall Trip Ideas: Quarantine Edition

I don’t know who needs to hear this, but Fall isn’t cancelled. Haha! Friends! We can still move around, travel lightly and be festive while also being safe. So here are some great Fall Trip Ideas for this crazy year.

Fall Trip Ideas: Day Trips!

If there is one thing I’ve learned during self-isolation/quarantine it’s how safe a day trip can be when you start early. I recommend planning out your day a little bit more than you usually do.

That means:

  • Timing your day out
  • Planning meals – Making reservations or packing ahead of time
  • Checking social capacity at main attractions
  • Checking the weather for appropriate clothing

If you’re in the PNW, we have some of the most beautiful hikes in the world out here. A fantastic was to spend the day is by heading out to a local park and spending the whole day outside.

Pro-tip: Get up earlllyyyy. Like leave at 6am, early. This way you avoid a lot of people getting there before you and you can get a parking spot.

  • Hiking – My personal favorite has been Lake 22. It’s a moderate level hike with the most beautiful lake at the tippy top. If you’re hiking alone, check out my beginner’s guide here.
  • Wineries – I’ve done this throughout Napa but not our local wineries yet. Many vineyards have outdoor seating (and undercover for our rainy state) and all you need to do is make a reservation. Super easy to stay out of contact with others.
  • Visit a Farm – I love heading out of the city to go to one of the nearby farms. You can find them so easily out of Seattle. Two of my favorite places to go is Arlington, WA and Wenatchee County, WA. Both have U-pick farms for:
    • Peaches – til early September.
    • Apples – til mid October.
    • Blueberries – til early October.
  • Visit a Pumpkin Patch – Let’s be real here. We’re all basic at heart! Haha! With 2020 being our year, I say, let that basic flag fly and you do you. If pumpkin patches bring you joy, like me, get that happy energy! I’m thrilled to get this on the calendar this year.

  • Coupeville, WA – This one requires a ferry but it’s one of my favorite small towns in the state. There’s also quite a few trails out there and a lovely drive. Check out my old post on the town here.
  • Snohomish, WA – Is another darling small town. Check out Uptown Wine Bar, Christa’s Sandwich Board & Joyworks Gift Shop.

Fall Trip Ideas: Overnight Trips!

This is definitely going to be my favorite way to travel this Fall. I love nothing more than airbnb hunting for the perfect place to stay. This Fall I already have a few places mapped out. It’s really nice to have something on the calendar to look forward to.

Here are some easy tips to keep you safe while overnighting it:

  • Meal Plan ahead of time and know what you need to pack/pick up before heading out.
  • Bring your own entertainment. (I have an Entertainment List here)
  • Bring your own cleaning supplies. Just in case.

  • Camping – I can’t believe I’m going to say this but, something I’ve recently discovered is car camping. It’s inexpensive, outdoors, impossible to be within 6 ft of anyone and there is nothing like a Fall fire pit. Check out my recent post on it here.
  • Cabins – This is my favorite way to travel in the Fall, y’all. There is nothing better than being in front of a fireplace, in the middle of the woods, with a nice cup of tea and a mystery book! Airbnb and VRBO are great places to check out for this kind of trip. I recommend small towns but don’t forget to mask up with walking about them!
  • Beach front – Don’t rule out the beach for a Fall Trip Idea, especially if you live in the PNW. There is nothing more beautiful that an Autumn sunset on the water. If you’re on the East coast, I’ve seen your sunrises. 😍 You can read about my Westport, WA adventure here for a small town with beach views.

What are some epic Fall Trip Ideas you have? I’d love to hear them!

Stay happy, healthy and safe, friends!

Fall Trips are very important right now during this global pandemic. It's hard to get out of the house some Autumn, primarily due to less light and the rain in the PNW. Spending time prepping for a trip is the perfect way to save Fall and keep you and your loved one safe. These are my Fall Trip Ideas, both day trips and overnight trips.
