10 Things I’ve Noticed While Being in a Healthy Relationship
My love life has always been kept private on this platform, for many reasons. The top reason being – I never wanted to get my hopes up and talk about someone who wasn’t going to be around forever. All that has really changed with Future Mr. Trip Side. Despite not planning our wedding or even having engagement photos taken, we’re perfectly happy taking our time and saving for something we really want to have.
Throughout the past year and a half, being in a serious relationship has been eye-opening. So many things have changed that I never thought would, most for the better but some for the worse. I think the hardest part is not losing yourself throughout it all.
- I take way fewer photos of myself these days, and I’m slowly making peace with that as a blogger
- I’ve had to get intentional about making time for friends, since our combined family commitments eat into it fast
- You gain happiness weight because you both love treats but also are enablers
- New routines start with every season, especially for us with his prayer times and my new work schedule (PS, I got a new job, guys!)
- The house is always evolving, and I’ve learned to love the constant rotation of people through our door
- You have a partner to do everything with: travel, run errands with, convince to get coffee on Fridays, go on walks or to the gym – my ADHD loves this cause I get more done with him around
- Hobbies now have to be planned into the routine, which has actually made me protect that time more fiercely when I get it
- They have your back no matter what, even when you keep forgetting to buy toothpaste, and they notice and get it for you
- Always there to talk through the good, but also the very, very painful and sad too
- Everything is about communication and compromise and choosing each other every day, and it’s beautiful and comforting, and I wouldn’t have it any other way
Again, life is different, and that’s not bad at all. It’s something I love, and I love living it with someone I love. I do need to add hobbies into my routine though. That will help a lot.
I’ll get there though!
Xoxo
