Tiny Little Joys Lately
There have been a lot of tiny little moments recently that have brought me so much joy and gratefulness. It’s funny how the tiniest things make you feel such big feelings and you’re immediately thankful for the moment. That’s been my life as of late. Small moments of joy, hope, and happiness. Some so small, you’d probably laugh.
Iced Tea in a Mason Jar
Something about sunshine and iced tea makes summer that much better. I love brewing my tea in a French press, adding agave, and then transferring it to a mason jar once it’s cooled. It’s not quite sun tea, but it still brings back memories of my dad and his Lipton tea bags sticking out of his (now) vintage glass beverage dispenser. You know the one I’m talking about? Ours had lemons on it, that classic 70s and 80s print. Anyway, these little memories make summer so much more real.
Watching things actually grow
Still can’t get over the fact that I planted seeds and starters this year and they turned into food. Every time I walk by and something new has come in, I stop and admire. Simple joys, truly. Today my tomato vines are finally getting flowers. It’s really taught me patience and gratitude this year.
A quiet house in the morning
We’re both very quiet people by nature and even though we laugh all the time, there’s something about quiet mornings in the house that is so wonderful. Especially on the weekends. It’s become one of my favorite parts of living with a partner. I particularly love making breakfast and enjoying coffee and tea with a smile on our faces.
Slow dinners with no plans after
No errands, no place to be, just cooking something together and actually sitting down to eat it at the table. No cell phones. Just conversations about the day and arguing over the best side dishes, haha! Again, the smallest things make me so happy lately.
Getting lost in a book again
I went through a stretch where I wasn’t reading much, and now I’m back in it. It’s been not only a great way to wind down every evening, but also an excuse to jump into bed early for more than just one chapter. There’s nothing like falling back in love with reading after a slump, friends. Nothing.
Finally picked up Anne of Green Gables and Emily Wilde’s Encyclopaedia of Faeries!
A finished project, finally.
There’s a specific kind of happy that only comes from holding something you made with your own hands. Whether it’s something sewn, knit, or painted. I’ve had a few of those moments lately and each one feels amazing and like such an accomplishment.
Yoga with nowhere to be after
Not a class, not a schedule, just rolling out my mat because I wanted to. Moving and grooving until it felt right, and stopping when it didn’t. No goals or commitments. Just a practice of my own.
Thrift finds that feel like they were waiting for me
You know the ones. Nothing dramatic, just a little thrill when it happens.
Voice notes from friends for no reason
One of my favorite little joys right now. The ones that say nothing important but somehow make the whole day better.
That’s the list for now. Nothing magical, and yet, somehow magic in it’s own way. Just the little things that have been quietly making summer lovely.
What’s been bringing you joy lately? I’d love to hear it in the comments.
xoxo
