Goodbye, Goals! Embracing Intentional Plans for the New Year
Hello, Darlings!
Let’s start with some honesty: I can’t say, “I can’t believe it’s the end of 2024,” because, let’s be real, I absolutely can believe it. And for 2025, I’m throwing out the idea of traditional resolutions and huge goals. Instead, I’m focusing on plans—because plans? Plans I can handle. Plans I can map out and tackle, step by step.
While I do have one major (and very private) goal for 2025, it’s something that’s completely out of my control. It’s deeply personal, so I’m keeping it close to my heart for now.
But for everything else? It’s all about action and intention. So, without further ado, here are my plans for 2025:
Goodbye, Goals! Embracing Intentional Plans for the New Year
Travel
- Visit Montreal & Quebec
- Go to D.C. to visit my cousins
- Head to Albuquerque to see my aunt
- Book a weekend reading retreat
After years of hopping all around the world, my travel plans this year are more grounded (get it? ☺️). Between settling into my job and saving for other priorities, travel is no longer the focus—but that doesn’t mean I won’t be sharing my adventures (past and future) with you.
Hobbies
- Relearn crochet
- Make 75% of my wardrobe and thrift the rest
- Create an herbalism journal
- Read 50 books and start a book club
- Learn soap-making and sell at markets
This year, I’m diving headfirst into hobbies I’ve been putting off for too long. I want to finally sort through all my patterns and sew the perfect wardrobe of my boho dreams. And instead of buying new clothes, I’ll be focusing on upcycling, repairing, and making my own.
There’s something so satisfying about crafting your own wardrobe, don’t you think? I also want to embrace low-pressure, cozy hobbies like puzzling, listening to audiobooks, and maybe even hosting a game night with friends.
And then there’s the big one: soap-making! My sister has a severe tree nut allergy, and I’m determined to create nourishing, goat milk soaps that are completely tree-nut-free. It’s been a dream of mine for months, and I’m so excited to get started.
On the reading front, I’m keeping it chill this year. In 2024, I read 82 books, but this year I’m aiming for a relaxed 50. I’d love to break out of my romance-heavy habits (69 of those were romance!) and explore other genres.
Home
- Make my own art for my house
- Buy a new sofa and ottoman
- Invite friends over to celebrate the season
My townhouse is truly becoming my happy place. It’s peaceful, cozy, and finally feels like home. This year, I want to fill it with even more love and personality by creating my own art for each room. As an art history major, I’ve always dreamed of making my own pieces, and now feels like the perfect time.
On the practical side, I desperately need a new sofa. And once I have that? You better believe I’ll be hosting friends to celebrate all the little things!
Lifestyle
- Eat more naturally (less processed foods)
- Work from a café once a week
- Meet friends for city lunches monthly
- Have a low-buy year
- Be active six times a week
This is my year to focus on living intentionally. I want to nourish my body with whole, unprocessed foods and learn how to make staples like crackers, sandwich bread, and bagels from scratch. I’m also exploring herbalism to build a better relationship with food and wellness.
As for movement? I’m done with doom-scrolling, darlings! I’m committing to being active six days a week, no matter how small the effort. Walking, stretching, yoga—it all counts.
Socializing is another big focus. I want to visit more cafés, try all the local coffee shops (even if they’re just Starbucks 😑), and meet friends for monthly city lunches. And finally, I’m embracing a low-buy year. Consumerism is officially out. I’m only purchasing items that bring me joy and that I’ll use more than five times.
A Fresh Start
That’s it, my loves—those are my plans for 2025! Nothing is set in stone, but I’ve already started organizing everything in Notion to stay on track and build better habits.
Here’s to a beautiful, intentional year ahead. I hope you’re as excited about 2025 as I am.
Wishing you a happy last day of the year and all the best for what’s to come!
