My Favorite Cities to Visit During the Holidays
Hello, from Las Vegas, my friends! I’m still on my “Sunshine Trip”. I’m currently basking at the pool. JB & JL and I have dinner reservations tonight. Then JB and I are going to see a show and meet back up with JL at a bar after.
For this post, I’m sharing My Favorite Cities to Visit During the Holidays. Spoiler, Vegas isn’t one of them. However, I am having so much more fun experiencing this city as an adult. i.e. NOT at a bachelorette party. 😅
My Favorite Cities to Visit During the Holidays
There aren’t a lot of places I wouldn’t go for the Holidays. There are tons of places I would love to travel to, but that’s for another post. This one is of the places I’ve been. Starting with one of my favorite cities…
New York City, New York, USA
Rockefeller Center’s Christmas Tree, Christmas Shows, the Empire State Building’s annual Holiday Light Show, Gramercy’s Christmas Markets, Central Park Ice Skating… need I continue??
New York is one of the most magical places in the world during Christmas. It’s the biggest reason I love Elf and one of the reasons I’m always looking at flights to New York during December.
Strausberg, France
Stausberg is the first city I’d traveled to, abroad, alone. For that, it has a special place in my heart. The big kicker though was it was during December and the first Christmas Market I’d gotten to experience!
Oh my gosh, I was overwhelmed with joy and, unfortunately, claustrophobia. Haha! I can’t tell you how I tried to avoid those crowds by hanging out on the outskirts but I was drawn to all the hand-carved ornaments, pretzels, melted cheese (that I couldn’t eat), and the french vin chaud -aka mulled wine. I would go again in a heartbeat.
Basel, Switzerland
Oh gosh! Basel was so unexpectedly wonderful! They pulled out all the stops when it came to decorations, lights, and treats. This beautiful Swiss city turns into a Christmas scene out of a Disney movie.
I ate like a Queen. There were so many different sausages to try. They’re served on a slice of brown bread with mustard to dip in. Then there were the unlimited amounts of Glühwein (sweet German mulled wine)! They gave you a reusable cup to fill up wherever you were in the market. If you go, I recommend checking out Barfüsserplatz, the tree at Basel City Hall, and Münsterplatz. None of these are far apart, I promise!
London, England
There is nothing like London in December. NOTHING. It’s one of my favorite times to go because I absolutely adore Harrods! Especially their marketon the bottom floor. I spent and hour in there picking out Christmas gifts for my family that year. I had such a magical time.
Other Christmasy things to do:
- High Tea & Fortum & Mason’s Diamond Jubilee Tea Room
- Leicester Square Christmas Market for gifts
- Go see Cartier’s Christmas light display on Bond Street!
Oahu, Hawaii, USA
Listen, I love Christmas just as much as you but I love hot weather more. Haha! I thought I would hate Christmas at 60 degrees. Alas, I love it.
I love seeing palm trees decorated, Mr & Mrs Claus in Hawaiian printed tee shirt ornaments, and I love Hawaiian food all year round. So, Christmas on the North Shore of Hawaii is an absolutely dream of mine. I would have Elvis’ “Blue Christmas” on repeat til I left.
Seattle, WA, USA (aka, Home)
As much as I love to travel, my favorite place is home for the holidays. I love seeing my friends, exchanging gifts, meeting up for a mulled wine at my favorite bar, and baking cookies to hand out.
Seattle has one of the best Nutcracker performances I’ve ever seen. It also is filled to the brim with activities every year. Despite the rain. Here’s my list of The Best Holiday Events in Seattle This Year for you to browse. Don’t be surprised if you see me at every single one of them.
That’s it my darlings! Thanks for reading this lengthy post on My Favorite Cities to Visit During the Holidays.
