Super Chunky Cable Knit Sweater & Pleated Skirt

Hello from Portland, Oregon, darlings. How lovely is this super chunky cable knit sweater and pleated skirt outfit? I’m in love!

Today’s photos were made possible by my best and oldest friend who bit the bullet for me and offered to take my pictures. We always have so much fun. Whether is laughing as I change in the back of the car or walking aimlessly through neighborhoods looking at tress… but, that’s what BFFs are for, right? Ease, love and laughter.

On to this super chunky cable knit sweater & pleated skirt, eh?

I know you want me to talk about Portland today, which is completely understandable. However, I have two separate posts coming out on it this month. Instead, I’d actually appreciate it if you’d let me indulge you on a personal matter. After chatting about this outfit, of course!

You’re not going to believe this, or perhaps you will, if you’ve been following me long enough. This sweater was a thrift store find! I know, I know! It ‘s crazy but let me tell you even more about, okay? It’s 80% sheep wool, beautifully taken care of and the price was a mere $7. The topping on the cake? It’s an Eddie Bauer original. (Insert smily face here!)

I’ve paired this little beauty with my lovely french skirt, literally from France (via the Mono Prix), and my over the knee Marc Fisher Boots! Add a panama hat and an old Brahmin bag? You’re magically ready to take on Autumn full charge!

A more personal note:

To be honest, I wasn’t sure I should post this but at the end of the day, I’m a style journalist. Someone who loves to share her world through a unique lens and these are the little things that make me who I am. The raw, unfiltered, unashamed moments of sadness…

My great aunt passed away this Monday.

Friends, when I tell you I’m okay, I mean it. Though Saturday and Monday were torture and why you saw my lack of posting. I want to share this with you because, to be honest, we all go through pain and suffering from time to time and this is just a simple reminder that there’s more to life than social media. It’s a painful reminder that life is … excruciatingly short, and though ugly and messy in between, quiet beautiful toward the end.

I’d really love it and appreciate it if you would all do me a favor: Call your grandmother today. That’s what my Aunt D was to me. A grandmother, since I never got to meet mine.

Alright, love. Much love, peace and good energy to you.

xo – Alli
