Extra Cozy And Inclusive: My Holiday Bucket List
This year feels a bit different from every other year. We’re managing a lot of schedules and trying to work around each other to find one special day to celebrate. Normally, my family meets in Spokane since that’s where my niece and nephew are, but this year might look a little different.
I’m also trying to acknowledge that not everyone celebrates Christmas in Western society. There are so many other holidays and traditions all around the world, and I want to not only learn about them but also be more inclusive moving forward. So, I’ve created a big holiday bucket list full of cozy, community-focused ideas. I doubt I’ll be able to check them all off, but let’s begin!

My Holiday Bucket List
- Have a cookie exchange with friends and family
- Take family photos
- Read a holiday-themed book
- Knit hats for friends and family (I just made this one for my niece, and it’s adorable!)
- Donate to a toy drive
- Decorate the house all warm and cozy
- Visit the Native Art Market at Discovery Park (Dates: 11/22–23 or 12/20–21)
- Go to the PNW Ballet’s The Nutcracker
- Attend a holiday party
- Volunteer at Northwest Harvest Food Bank
- Drink hot apple cider or hot cocoa (I’ll be making Jacques Torres’ recipe this year!)
- Watch my favorite holiday movies
- Give random acts of kindness
- Enjoy sitting in front of the fireplace at a cabin
- Make my vision board for the upcoming year
- Visit Seattle’s Christmas Market (they lowered the price of admission — perfect if you haven’t experienced a European Christmas Market yet!)
- Try a new mocktail
- Go on a snow-covered hike or try snowshoeing
- Visit Leavenworth to experience the magic
- See a hockey game (I’ve never seen the Kraken, maybe this will be my year!)
- Support a local craft fair
There’s so much to be thankful for this time of year. It can be a little trying for families and friends, but it’s also a season filled with love, reflection, and community. I’m wishing everyone a happy, healthy, and fulfilling holiday season.
Please remember to give if you can. Every little bit helps and can go directly into your community.
