Fall in Love This Autumn: Romance Books to Read in 2025
Oh, Autumn. 🍁 It’s such a bittersweet time for me, as my one true seasonal love will always be summer. However, there is nothing more wonderful than a crisp autumn morning stroll and a cup of hot cider in the evening, curled up with a cozy romance novel. This year, I’m leaning into a slower, more intentional season. Less hustle, less stress… and a lot more time to read the day away.
So, here are a few romance books I’m beyond excited for, some new releases, and one I’ve been meaning to pick up from my TBR for years.
Fall in Love This Autumn: Romance Books to Read in 2025
If It Makes You Happy by Julie Olivia
Available at: Barnes & Noble | Bookshop.org
Release Date: September 2nd, 2025
Starting strong, friends. That cover? OMG. It’s giving everything I want from a book set in 1997 and in autumn.
I’ve read several of Julie Olivia’s books (her Peter Pan–inspired series where Wendy ends up with Hook, a single dad? Obsessed). So, to say I’m thrilled about this one is a major understatement.
Short overview: She’s running her mom’s B&B in Cooper Run, Vermont for the autumn months until her sister can take over. The only problem? She desperately needs a baker. Luckily, her single-dad neighbor just happens to make pastries that are to die for…
An Ancient Witch’s Guide to Modern Dating by Cecelia Edward
Available at: Barnes & Noble | Bookshop.org
Release Date: June 24th, 2025
I saw this book at B&N and almost bought it on the spot because I loved the concept. My friend, Shanna, ended up snagging it and read it in lightening speed. She swears it was one of her favorite surprises of the year. I cannot wait to dive in and borrow it from her.
Short overview: A 39-year-old witch’s potion goes sideways, and she wakes up 350 years in the future, where her home is now a historical museum. With the help of the museum curator (and her charming brother), she dives into the 21st century dating pool.
A Study in Scarlet Women by Sherry Thomas
Available at: Barnes & Noble | Bookshop.org
A Sherlock Holmes retelling… but Holmes is a woman!! Need I say more? This one radiates autumn energy and is a perfect pick for spooky season.
Short overview: Charlotte Holmes never felt comfortable with the demureness expected of the fairer sex in upper class London. But when three mysterious deaths cast suspicion on her family, she must clear their name. With the help of loyal friends (and a man who longs for her), Charlotte proves she can outwit anyone who dares underestimate her.
There’s Pumpkin About You by Athena Carstairs
Available at: Barnes & Noble | Bookshop.org
Release Date: August 26, 2025
I mean… look at that darling cover. Do you even need more convincing?
Short overview: Wren is planning her best friend’s 30th birthday bash and is desperate to snag Goldleaf Pumpkin Farm as the venue. The only catch? She has to get past August, the gorgeous but grumpy farmer whose family owns the land.
The Pumpkin Spice Spell by Erin Branscom
Available at: Barnes & Noble | Bookshop.org
Release Date: September 8, 2025
Not gonna lie, I swooned when I saw this cover. Even better, it’s the start of a new series about three sisters (and you know how much I love a series, revisiting characters like old friends).
Short overview: Willa Maren, the oldest of three sisters, runs a cozy bookstore and drinks pumpkin spice lattes year-round. But when her first love comes back to town, her carefully ordered world is turned upside down.
