The Best 7 Things To Do Solo in Denver, CO
Headed to the Mile High City solo? I’ve got you covered in this addition to my Best 7 Things series. I’m covering a city that’s been on my travel list for years. When I was in college, everyone said I would love Colorado because it’s so similar to Oregon.
Now, more so than ever.
Which is why it’s been so high on my list but I hadn’t had an excuse to go til recently.
The Best 7 Things To Do Solo in Denver, CO
The biggest reason for going was based on a post I saw on Instagram about sunrise yoga at one of the most popular amphitheaters on Earth!
Yoga on the Rocks at the Red Rocks Amphitheater
This was such an incredible experience. I was so excited, I was physically shaking by the energy or the altitude. Difficult to say which.
Either way, if you’re looking for more information on Yoga on the Rocks, check out my post on Everything You Need to Know: Yoga On the Rocks – Denver, CO!
Explore RiNo (aka River North)
Also known as Denver’s Art District which is filled to the brim with amazing street art/murals. I really liked this area. It reminded me of Capitol Hill in Seattle or SoCo in Austin. There’s a great food scene out there and loads of breweries.
There was a shop filled with ice cream (Heaven Creamery) and they had the most vegan flavors I’d ever seen in one shop. Across the street, there’s an amazing space filled with boutiques called Modern Nomad. Definitely check it out.
Meow Wolf!
Get your ticket early! I ended up getting mine 2 weeks beforehand and thank goodness I did. I happened to be traveling at the same time as the Taylor Swift concert. It was such a blast seeing everyone dressed up and luckily I decided to go on a Thursday so ticket prices were a little bit cheaper and there weren’t as many people.
This is the third Meow Wolf exhibit I’ve been to. Each one is truly unique and such a crazy and fun experience. I cannot recommend it enough. You can spend hours in this alternative art world and I suggest you do to get your money’s worth.
Visit Stanley Marketplace
This was so much fun! Stanley Marketplace is a bit off the beaten path in Aurora, Denver, but wonderful nonetheless. There appeared to be nothing but Denver’s hits in this place and it also had local independent shops as well.
I really loved Sweet Cow Ice Cream and Rolling Smoke BBQ. I wish I had been hungry enough to try Denver Biscuit Co. and Maria Empanada. They both looked incredible.
Denver Botanic Gardens
The best museum because it’s 80% outside! I really enjoyed the Denver Botanic Gardens. It was easy to kill a few hours here. They have some of the most interesting plants, layouts, and art fixtures. Including a Chuhuly. It was a lot of fun to check out the gift shop at the end too.
Union Station
Yes! Absolutely visit the luxurious train station but Union Station is also a neighborhood within Denver Central. There’s a great bookstore (Tattered Cover on McGregor) and it’s right next to Coor’s Field. Definitely check out Larimer Square while you’re walking around. It’s so cute, full of life, and great grub.
Viator Denver Pub Tour
I didn’t do this but I absolutely would have if I’d had more time. Denver has an extraordinary brew scene and I’m bummed I didn’t get to try a single one. It was super hot in July and, with the altitude, I was nervous to drink a lot.
However, next trip? I’m 100% doing a Pub Tour.
