Our Thanksgiving Menu
Happy Thanksgiving Weekend, friends! This year my family is giving thanks today. I’m assuming many families do this and also have multiple Thanksgivings’. I thought it would be fun to share what’s on Our Thanksgiving Menu this year.
A lot of people don’t know this but Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. I know, I’ve been told I’m weird but let me explain. Thanksgiving is Christmas without all the hassle and anxiety of spending money and finding everyone a gift they will love. I wish Christmas were Thanksgiving, honestly.
Our Thanksgiving Menu
Everyone is together. We make the most ridiculous amount of food. To the point where we can barely eat when the turkey is ready.
It’s full of laughter, games, and sometimes the James Bond marathon on FX. It’s fun. Not that Christmas isn’t fun but it is exhausting from the moment you wake up. It’s a marathon, not a sprint, but thanksgiving?? Thanksgiving is your sprint. It’s done at 4 pm and then it’s nothing but leftovers and debating if we all want to go to the movies!
Anyway, our menu this year:
Appetizers
- Bruschetta (made with Macrina’s Herb Baguette)
- Deviled Eggs (requested by my brother and might be a staple going forward)
- Little Smokers
- Salad (mostly for me)
- Charcuterie Board (with Italian Salami, fun cheeses, & fancy crackers)
Main Course
- Turkey
Side Dishes
- Sausage Stuffing (a German recipe)
- Garlic Green Beans
- Rice & Beans (a family Haitian recipe)
- Mashed Potatoes (and a side without dairy)
- Pull-A-Part Hawaiian Rolls
- Cranberry Sauce (from a can)
- Turkey Gravy (which none of us really like or eat)
Dessert
- Mom’s Apple Crumble Pie (the best ever)
- Pumpkin Pie (which I really don’t like)
- Dairy-free dessert (which is always up in the air and is sometimes just chocolate)
Please note that there are only 8 of us this year and, yet, we’ll have enough leftovers for a week. Haha! I’m not upset. I love leftovers.
I’m excited to read what everyone else is having this year. I think it’s so wonderful when family & friends mix together and share their family recipes. I would love to know what’s your favorite dish during thanksgiving.
Hope you all are celebrating this year with tons of happiness and health.
