The Top 5 Places I’ve Traveled So Far
Over the past year, I’ve heard of so many people traveling to Greece. I think 50% of the people I work with have gone this year. Which is wonderful! As those islands are dependent on travelers spending money in their country. However, I realized how popular Greece is and, yet, I still have not been. Which I find interesting, particularly because I’ve been to France, Italy, and England numerous times, just not Greece. Anyway, this is why I thought I would share The Top 5 Places I’ve Traveled So Far…
Because despite Greece not being on my list, to be honest with you, I’m not sure it’s on my top 10 places to visit! I know. Don’t be mad. Please know, that this I merely my personal preference. Maybe if I go, it’ll change my mind.
The Top 5 Places I’ve Traveled So Far
Each of these cities has a special place in my heart but I cannot wait to start traveling internationally again. There are so many cities and small towns. I’m so excited to explore them all!
Toledo, Spain
Toledo was a last-minute decision while traveling to Madrid. It was a very short train ride. The purpose of the trip was to watch a Castellers competition. When we got there, I fell in love.
The people are so kind. Everyone I spoke to was excited to help me if I needed directions. I made friends with the sweetest gentleman who owned a jewelry shop. Where I bought two pairs of earrings. One for myself and another as a gift for my mom, after she told me she too had been to Toledo but 25 years before.
I also had a Spanish stew (Carcamusa) at a darling restaurant underground. It was such a uniquely delicious experience. Like, comfort food abroad. I highly recommend it.
Windsor & Bath, England
I realize this is cheating. Naming 2 cities in England but both of these are very dear to me because I was on a trip with my Mom. Since then, I’ve been back to London 2 other times but I loved experiencing the smaller towns in the country much more.
At Windsor, it was just after a fire but we were still able to get a tour. The town was absolutely darling and I dare say, it was very obvious why the late Queen resided there. The gardens were nothing short of beautiful.
Bath was a very quick stop and I’m making it my mission to visit again in the next year. I loved finding the home of Jane Austen and all the little shops near the Roman Baths. My mom and I popped into a wool shop where she bought me a wonderful beanie and I bought myself a plaid side poncho. Two of my favorite things to wear in Autumn through Winter.
New York City, USA
Specifically in December fall of the beautiful Holiday decorations. My parents are from Long Island so I grew up visiting every summer. Though, I didn’t go into the city til I was a teenager.
I fell in love with the hustle and bustle. How the city literally never sleeps and there’s always a late night diner open, just in case. Favorite things:
- warm bagels and schmear
- Bergdorf Goodman’s window displays
- folded cheese pizza with grease running down your arm
- warm caramelized almonds from street vendors
- Rockefeller Center tree lighting & ice skating rink
The North Shore, Hawaii, USA
Oh Hawaii… there is a very special place in my heart for this state. Especially the North Shore. I wish I could live there full-time. Though I know I would take every second for granted.
This side of Hawaii is not only beautiful but calm. There are far fewer people than in the city area. Tons of surf watching, hiking, and acai bowls. I really hope everyone gets an opportunity to go but, with that said, I also don’t want to ruin their island.
Amsterdam, Netherlands
Oh, this city is such a surprise and delight! My sister and I had the best time exploring the royal palace and eating the biggest pancakes we’d ever seen. We loved walking over the canals, seeing Anne Frank’s house, and debating which museum to go into to stay out of the cold!
Honestly, I would love to go back to Holland and explore the outskirts of the city. I have this silly little bucket list idea of going to a goat cheese farm and buying yarn in the same town. Haha! I know laughable but, it’s something I’ve always wanted to do. In the meantime though, start with Amsterdam and fall in love with the people, their culture, and their easy-going lifestyle.
I haven’t been traveling much this year. It’s something I’m getting back into in the new year. I’ve been enjoying researching different places and making a list of the things I would like to do there.
