The Best 7 Things to Do Solo In Savannah
That’s right, my darling friends! I’m back from vacationing through the south. I’ve been busy outlining, drafting and nit-picking my upcoming blog posts for you guys.
If you’re following me on instagram & twitter, I started my epic road trip in Georgia and made my way up the Carolinas. So, I’m writing where it all began: Savannah!
Since I was alone on my entire trip, I’m sharing: The Best 7 Things to Do Solo In Savannah!
There’s something to be said for traveling alone. You’re not waiting on anyone. You can do what you want when you want. That’s exactly what I did.
In honestly, I had left over dessert for breakfast one morning and absolutely regret nothing.
If you’re super curious about my solo road trip and how I went about planning it; not to worry. I’m working on building out an itinerary each location for you guys. It might not be ready til the new year but I’ll get it done!

The Best 7 Things to Do Solo In Savannah
Driving through Savannah was far less terrifying than I thought it would be. To start, Chatham County, Savannah is huge. Yet, the Downtown Historic District is not. Like, at all!
I was terrified to drive through. In the end, I was nothing but stunned by it’s beauty and at-ease when it came to parking.
Perhaps the parking gods were on my side. I don’t know but it was easy-peezy. The city sparkled with the sun peeking through the Spanish moss, which draped from tree to tree.
It was magical.
Everything I thought and hoped it would be. If anything, go for the architecture, Spanish moss and iron accents.
Now, my to-do:
One // Take a 2-Hour Bike Tour
This was the highlight of my Savannah trip. If I could recommend this bike tour to everyone, I would. Which is why I’m sharing it.
I went through viator.com, which ran through Savannah Bike Tours. If you have any apprehension, don’t. Book it.
It was the perfect blend of history and practical commuting through a very flat city. I would recommend this tour to couples, friends and, of course, solo explorers. You’ll make friends and be able to ask your tour guide anything Savannah related.
10 out of 10 recommend. 🚲
Two // Get Fried Green Tomatoes and Other Southern Dishes
You are in the SOUTH, my friends! Get excited for all the fat, butter and fried things you could possibly imagine. I am very partial to fried green tomatoes, as that’s not something you can find west of the Mississippi.
Imagine friend chicken on every menu along with collard greens, biscuits, brisket and grits.
My mouth is watering just thinking about it… speaking of food….
Three // Take A Walking Culinary Tour
This is something I really wanted to do but didn’t (due to food intolerances). However, two people I know have done it and they loved every moment of it. Again, I’m fond of viator.com due to their cancellation policies and the fact that I can download it right to my apple wallet, etc.
However, you can also book directly with the small business owner! For this tour I recommend Savannah Taste Experience they have more options available on their site. Either way, you’ll get a great experience.

Four // Rooftop Happy Hour & Get It To-Go
One thing a lot of people don’t know: You can drink in the streets.
Very similar to Vegas, it’s not illegal to drink on the streets in Savannah. Which is pretty nice when you’re in a crowded place and would rather be outdoors.
You could also kill two birds with one stone and get a cocktail on one of their famous rooftop bars! I joined Perry Lane Hotel restaurant, Peregrin, for the best view in the city. Their Berry Cocktail was to die for. Perfect ascetic for the afternoon. I made friends with my server and listened to an audiobook for an hour and a half before carrying on with my day.
Five // Take a Ghost or Cemetery Tour
I was very courageous on this recent trip. I took an Adults Only Spooky Ghost Tour on Halloween night.
Did I run to my rental car after it was over?
Absolutely.
Would I book it again?
Without a doubt.
It was a blast. Though, in fairness, my guide from the cemetery tour was sensational. A true Savann-ian and an absolute gem. Her name is Dawn Martin. If you’re lucky enough to get her, she’s the best of the best.
Again, highly recommend going through Viator for your tours.
Six // Explore the Starland District
Starland is the eclectic part of the city. With fantastic art, amazing coffee and boutiques from home decor to record shops. I really liked this area. There are tons of under rated restaurants and murals throughout this district. I wish I got to explore more of.
Seven // Go to the Ralph Mark Gilbert Civil Rights Museum
This is something I didn’t get to do and it’s my biggest regret.
To be honest, I had this jotted down for a rainy day in the city but the rain didn’t come! It has amazing reviews online. It’s named after Rev Ralph Mark Gilbert who was a pastor at the First African Baptist Church, which is also in Savannah!
This is on my to go list for my next visit.
I’m really excited to share the rest of my adventure with you guys. Have you been to Savannah solo? What have you done and what did you love the most?
Happy exploring!
