A Solo Woman’s Guide To: Seattle In The Summer
Hello adventure-seekers! Today is a fun -filled post that I’ve been wanting to put together for a long time. Seattle… in the Summer. Not just that, A Solo Woman’s Guide to: Seattle in the Summer.
Seattle is a very unique place. It rains 9 months out of the year (and that’s not an exaggeration). It’s grey and misty and we, possibly, have vampires living in the far west quadrant of the state. HOWever, for those 3 beautiful, warm, blissful Summer months… well, you’ll never want to leave.
We often call it “The Trap Months”… because it’s a trap. The rest of the year is overcast. Don’t fall for it. Don’t up and move here on a whim. It’s a trap, I promise.
For the record, you should visit Seattle during all the seasons before deciding to move here. If you’re just visiting, that’s a different story.
Come in the summer! Especially if you’re traveling alone. Being solo in this city is fun and it’s easy to navigate for those new to solo traveling.
Also, if you’re questioning my authority on Seattle, know: I’ve lived in this city for 10 years. 😉
A Solo Woman’s Guide To: Seattle In The Summer
Okay, my friends – you have a mix of great info here. Great fun things to do solo in Seattle. These are all unique but great for introverts and extroverts alike. I love this “choose your own adventure” mentality to traveling solo. Sometimes you get lucky and make a new friend that turns into a pen pal. Some days you just wanna stick to yourself. These should give you the option!
Also added a fun section for restaurants with outdoor patios and cold desserts to grab for the super hot summer days.
Let’s get into it!
The Best Seattle Solo Summer Things to Do
There are so many, I’ll never be able to choose them all. So, I’ll try and keep this list short and I’ll just keep writing more posts until I fill them all up! For monthly events, a good resource is the Event12th website, which I use frequently.
Yoga in the Park
This is such a great solo activity and a way to meet people, if you’re into that sort of thing! Yoga at the park, just bring a mat or contact the instructor to see if they have an extra. They’re all over the city in the Summer, just need to stay clear of rainy days and heat waves! Though I guess that would just be hot yoga! Bring your water bottle!

Movies at the Mural (Space Needle)
That’s right, we have a great mural at the City Center that plays movies at dusk. Bring a low seated chair or a blanket. Don’t forget your snacks. Oh! Did I mention it’s free too? Perfect solo activity but surrounded by others. 💕

Mini Golfing
We have some cute putt putt places! All are an easy $10 tops for a round. My favorite is Interbay Golf Center because it’s a fun course but also because you can grab a beer before you play. Another great spot is Greenlake Golf Course.
Zoo Tunes
Another Seattle fun activity. The Woodland Park Zoo host a series of concerts every single summer. They also do whiskey tastings. Another fun thing to do and you get access to part of the zoo.

Pike Place Market
Though an insane tourist attraction, Pike Place Market in the mornings is a beautiful magical place. Right when everything is open and the stands are opening up, is the perfect time to go. I’ve definitely gotten up early to beat the crowds to grab macrons or a baguette from Le Panier and flowers for my Mom’s birthday. Also, the best place for flowers. A GIANT bouquet for $30.

The Conservatory
If you’ve never been to Seattle, this is a fun one for the plant lovers. The conservatory has a very cool history and has been in volunteer park since 1912 and modeled after London’s Crystal Palace. Keep in mind, it is heated so probably not great for Seattle’s random heatwaves!

Farmer’s Market
I love the Ballard farmer’s market. They have one of the best in the city (same with Pike Place, obvious) but Ballard is in the middle of a neighborhood that’s surrounded by boutique/Indie shops and amazing food. Great for exploring and bringing treasures home. (Favorites are below!)
Just Add Yoga
This is a company that is actually all about beer tasting. Their mentality is… just add yoga! 😅 I’ve done this a few times. It’s always at a brewery but many of them have the doors wide open or they’re on the patio. Then you get to meet new people, all while drinking a glass of beer! Fun way to do your sun-salutations.

Ferry Rides
One of my favorite this to do solo in the Summer is to hop on a ferry. You can drive on or just walk on. Super inexpensive and very easy. I recommend going to Bainbridge Island. They have some great wine tasting rooms, shops, tea shop and local bookstore! Check out my post on Bainbaridge here.
You can also hop a ferry to Alki Beach in West Seattle. It’s the only man-made beach in Seattle and they have great food along the pier.
Neighborhood Walks
This is so silly but I love walking through some the the more “elite” neighborhoods in Seattle. With Amazon being downtown, Microsoft on the other side of the pond and Nordstrom headquarters a stone throw away – you bet we have amazing houses!
My favorite neighborhoods are: Queen Anne, Ballard, Leschi, Laurelhurst and Madison Park.
The Best Seattle Solo Summer Places to Lounge
Gasworks Park
One of my favorite places to watch seaplanes land in the water and the perfect place for a picnic in the summer time. My other favorite parks are on this post.

Walking Olympic Sculpture Park
One of the prettiest parks with a trail that over looks the Olympic mountains. It’s also got, obviously, sculptures in it. It’s owned and maintained by the Seattle Art Museum. Another great picnic spot.

Greenlake Park
You can do everything at Greenlake. Bike, roller blade, run, walk, picnic, volleyball, basketball… it’s all there! There are great coffee spots around it too. The lake is 3 miles around (about 45 minutes) and a beautiful library across the street. Finally, some of the best sunsets.

The Best Seattle Solo Places to Dine
Bottlehouse
A wine bar that has a stunning outdoor patio/seating area. You can check it out, and other favorite places to grab a glass of wine here. Also has a great frosé to cool you down! A little tough to get to by bus but, if you’re downtown, you can hop on the 8!

Six Seven Restaurant
Honestly, one of my favorite places. I celebrated my 27th (?) birthday here. Cocktails are spendy but absolutely worth the live music and watching the ferries go by at night. The atmosphere is 💣. Fabulous bar area for solo travelers, it’s also located inside the Edgewater Hotel.

East Lake Bar & Grill
Amazing and beautiful outdoor seating. You can watch sail boats and seaplanes land from your table! They do have a bar and it’s reasonably priced, especially for their happy hour. They also have a $3 mimosa during brunch.

Sam Choy’s Poke Food Truck
This is one of the first food truck I’d ever experience in Seattle. It’s so good and they travel around quite a bit during the week. I generally get their Aloha Katus Chicken with double mac salad! Yummmmm. SO yum.

The Mountaineering Club
This restaurant and bar is very well known and voted the best roof top bar, with a view, in Seattle. It’s located University District and has a view of the Olympic Mountains, the wheel, the puget sound… the list goes on. More importantly, they have a bar and it’s very easy to book a reservation for one!

Frankie & Jo’s
Plant based Ice Cream and you can get a cone. The best flavors are always seasonal.

Molly Moon’s
For those who want milk in their ice cream. SO good and multiple locations (included in my QA restaurant guide). Don’t worry they always have vegan flavors too, just not as many.
