8 Bottles to Celebrate Washington Wine Month!

Personally, my favorite month is June because that is my birthday month. August is officially a close second becauseeee it’s WA Wine Month! Which is why, you guessed it… this post is on 8 Bottles to Celebrate Washington Wine Month!!

I had a ball writing about our killer rosés in June. Actually, now that I’m writing this, I’ve been loving my books & bottles series primarily because every wine choice has been a Washington State Wine! You guys, know my love for supporting as local as possible.

Speaking of, if you are going to grab a few bottles, try hoping into your local mom and pops wine shop! Spending in your community will let it continue to grow. 💖

Anyone else as excited for this list as me?!

8 Bottles to Celebrate Washington Wine Month!

These wine are ranging from all over the place. A few of them are on here because this one bottle almost convinced me to join their wine club… That says a LOT. Over the past year, I’ve been really getting a vibe for favorite bottles but also my favorite grapes.

I used to despise Merlots. The one that is on the list is the only Merlot I’ve had in yearssss that I not only enjoyed but purchased. I know!

These are wild times.

I did try and include different grapes and mixes for you guys. I didn’t want the entire list to be all Carménères.

Seven Hills Winery’s 2019 Carménère

Referred to, by our server, as the “spicy, spirited and boho younger sister of the Cab Franc” this bottle went straight to the counter. I loved the spice of the toasted peppercorn and hints of luscious dark berries. Making this perfect for the Fall season. I can’t wait to crack this one open in front of the fire with a saucy novel.

Mary Hill Winery’s 2016 Merlot

I know you’re absolutely dying know why I bought an actual bottle of Merlot. Me, Miss Alli, the Queen of Cabs and Malbecs alike.

This was the juiciest Merlot I’ve tasted yet. It smelled of Fall: coffee and toasted nuts with a little spice. The taste was rich but not a huge body. The notes say blackberry jam and I’m honestly not surprised in the least because … that’s my favorite berry. A lot of my favorite reds have a hint of berry in them. Definitely try this one out. It’s great.

Va Piano’s Black Label 2018 Rosebud Cabernet Sauvignon

I am not remotely sorry for posting this black label bottle of wine. Va Piano is one of the most highly successful and well known winery in Walla Walla. The moment I tried this, it was a winner. I’ve heard that year after year, these grapes just keep surprising and delighting their patrons. If you have a bottle, save it for a rainy day. You won’t regret it.

Kinhaven Winery and Vineyard’s 2020 Estate Rosé

My absolute favorite rosé of the year. I brought 2 bottles home with me and I’m kicking myself for not grabbing 6. Kinhaven is a small boutique (mom & pops, if you will). So, they only sell their bottles at the winery and on their website. Definitely snag a bottle before they’re all gone.

DeLille Cellars’s 2018 D2 Estate Red

Okay, you guys know this one from my first wines I received as a gift from WA Wines. I brought it to Christmas dinner and it was a huge hit with my parents and my youngest sister. It’s from DeLille Cellars, which two of my friends have memberships to. 10/10 recommend!

Fortuity Cellars’s 2019 Sauvignon Blanc

This was hands down one of my favorite whites this Summer. It’s an easy patio wine and, I swear, this would be amazing in sangria but I don’t have the heart to mix it. Haha! I did a books and bottles on this one here for more info.

Seven Hills Winery’s 2016 Ciel du Cheval Vineyard Red Wine

This bottle took me completely by surprise! I wasn’t going to buy anything else … then one taste had me sliding it across the counter to check out. This bottle was blended in Winter and it’s perfect for Winter. I cannot wait to crack this open on a chilly evening, snuggled up on the couch with a rom com. 😍

Arbor Crest’s 2019 Columbia Valley Rosé

At a medium price point, this bottle of rosé has been a go-to for my family all Summer! With my brother moving to Spokane, it’s been a lot of fun exploring and one of out days landed us at Arbor Crest. The grounds were an absolute showstopper, as well as this glass. We each went home with at least 1 bottle. It’s so yummy, juicy and exactly what you want after a long day at work.

This is another boutique wine you can only purchase at their vineyard or on their site.

You guys… I think I might be becoming obsessed with lists. It’s honestly the only way to keep myself organized, I swear. Anyway, if you’re looking for another great way to celebrate WA Wine month, definitely check out Washington Wine + Food: A Cookbook. It pairs Washington State Wine with Food prepared by Washington State’s best of the best chefs!

If you can’t grab a WA State Wine because of shipping, that’s okay, we get it. Do your best to support local in your region instead.

Happy celebrating, darlings!
