What to do with a skirt that’s too big
Well, well! It’s been a hot minute since I’ve posted a fashion piece on the blog. I’m actually super excited to share this post with you on What To Do With A Skirt Thats Too Big because we all have one or can easily find one. For me, I purchased mine at the thrift store and immediately drawn to the pattern. I couldn’t pass it up.
You guys know, I love a good thrift flip. In this case, a good hem job. This thrift skirt was $1.99. Too long and way too big. I thought about what to do with it for a long time. In the end I decided to keep it as a skirt but to hem it up into an above the knee skirt. I think it came out so perfectly, if I say so myself.
A lot of time when we’re out thrifting, we by pass items that are wayyyy too big or even too small. A lot of times we can give them a second life as something else. To be honest with you, this skirt had so much left over fabric that I’m currently working on a top to make this into a matching set. 🤗 I can’t wait til I’m done.
In the mean time, this skirt is easy to pair with anything this summer. It’s great for a picnic or just walking around exploring the city. (In my mask, of course). I originally was hoping to wear this skirt in Hawaii but, you know what? There’s always next year!
Always remember to recycle your clothing. Even if it takes you all year to figure out what to do with it. Chopping it, cropping it, turning it into something will give it new life and that helps our lovely mother earth. 😉
What have you hemmed up to make your own? What would you do with a skirt that’s too big?
