5 Reasons to Visit a Lavender Farm this Summer

These days, most of us aren’t going far from home. Especially without a face mask. Which is why today’s post is about my very quick adventure outside of Seattle to Arlington, WA. Here are 5 Reasons to Visit a Lavender Farm this summer, even during a pandemic.

First of all, I had no idea lavender had so many healing properties. I highly suggest a quick google on the topic. Not only is it an anti-bacterial, bug repellent and natural deodorizer, it’s also a huge mood lifter!

With that said, my friend, Natalie (from Natalie in the Northwest), and I saw that Purple Robe Lavender Farm was still open for the season, we jumped at the adventure! We drove the 50 miles (about an hour) outside of the city and got to see this season’s harvest first hand! Friends, it’s absolutely worth the drive.

Anyway! Things you need to know before going to a lavender field/farm:

  • Warning: There are bees everywhere
  • You will want to take a nap after you leave
  • Definitely bring your face mask (even though you’re outside they have a store)
  • You will want to buy everything
  • Everything you’re wearing will smell like lavender 😅

Okay here are 5 Reasons to Visit a Lavender Farm!

One // Pure Essential Oil

Majority of lavender products are packed full of fillers. We don’t want that. Many companies claim they are using “lavender oil” but they’re mixed it with filler ingredients that make it impure. Going to a lavender farm wil guarantee you 100% all natural and pure essential lavender oil, sprays, lotions, candles and so much more.

These small farms take pride in their products and use as little ingredients as possible for your wellbeing. It often costs a bit more but you are getting the purest products on the market.

Two // Supporting Local

Speaking of cost, buying anything from these farms helps them continue their art. Yes, art! Farming lavender is an actual science with nature. Seeds are planted at a certain time of year, with specific soil! They are harvested, dried, pressed or steamed.

It’s definitely worth picking up a bundle for your bedside table.

Three // Health Benefits

Again, with a short little google, you can find loads of health benefits on this medieval herb. Did you know it’s used to treat motion sickness and can even calm your dog?!

Lavender is truly amazing for soothing, calming and distressing your nerves. Not to mention used to treat joint and muscle pain. Ever use essential lavender oil in the bath tub? Definitely give it a try.

Four // Beautiful Photography

Arguably my favorite part about visiting the farm, besides supporting local, was being able to take pictures in the rows and rows of lavender. I loved taking photos with the beautiful hills of tree in the background of Purple Robe Lavender Farm. The farmhouse store was beautifully decorated and so esthetically pleasing, it was hard not to take hundreds of photos.

Pro-tip: Morning and 5pm light, in the summer, is beautiful. The sun goes behind the trees around 6:30pm.

Five // Fresh Clean Air

This is the the most important reason to head out to the lavender farm. The fresh air! With covid still all around the city, it’s nice to get out and walk in fields of purple and take it all in.

Note: If you are showing any flu like symptoms, please stay home or get tested before heading out to another county.

What are your favorite things about lavender? How do you use it everyday or even around the house? I’d love to know since I picked up a large bottle of essential oil while I was there.

Hope you’re all staying happy, healthy and safe!
