DIY Moisturizing Oatmeal & Honey Mask

What a great mental health day yesterday, guys! I did everything I wanted to and had no guilt associated with it. Isn’t that the best feeling?

This post is a fun little DIY for those who tend to have acne prone dry skin. This mask always helps moisturize and soften my face. This mask is great for any area of your skin that needs a little softening or exfoliation. For the recipe, check out below!Oatmeal & Honey Mask Ingredients

This mask is pretty easy to mix up and it’s packed with the best ingredients that you probably have in your own home!

Now, the best element for your acne prone skin in this mask is honey! It has a terrific amount of  antioxidants and it’s antibacterial from our bee friends. The antibacterial elements aid in acne while the antioxidants works on decreasing aging and soothing your skin. Last but not least, its terrific for unclogging pores! In fact, honey is an amazing medical remedy. If you get burned, putting a layer of honey can soothe it. Honey is the ultimate healthier! If you are a vegan (#respect), my substitute suggestion is to use avocado!

As for the other ingredients, oatmeal is considered one of the best health care sources we have and has been used for centuries to help with, again, antioxidants but also anti-inflammatory (which is amazing for acne and sensitive skin). It’s like an oatmeal bath for your face. Soothing, cooling and healing!

Adding cinnamon helps dry acne and pimples on your face, which is why I’ve mixed it with very moisturizing elements (honey & oatmeal). In fact, cinnamon is so amazing that you can use it mixed with honey for spot treatment. Mix honey with cinnamon, add to your spot and leave over night. It’s got great antioxidants in it which helps in clearing acne. Here’s an awesome article on cinnamon benefits.

Last piece to this mask is argan oil. The reason I chose this oil is because it’s non-comedogenic and a very light weight oil. It’s also known for having Vitamin E and omega fatty acids. Marie-Claire wrote a great article on the benefits of it here. I use this oil directly on my shoulders and elbows after a hot shower. Softens and adds moisture right back to my skin.

Alrighty, here’s my personal Moisturizing Oatmeal & Honey Mask!
This mask is sticky, obviously. Ever time I’ve created this mask, the texture is different so you may need to add more argan oil to loosen the oatmeal up. This can also be hard to apply to your skin. I recommend washing your face first and then patting your face dry before applying. This can help soothe your skin and make it easier to apply. I also apply this over my kitchen sink because I don’t want to clog the one in my bathroom.
Keep this mask on for 15-20 minutes. It maybe a bit runny at first so I put a towel on my chest when it’s on.
I’d love to know your favorite DIY masks and if you end up trying this one out! If you’re interested in my DIY skincare, check out my post on my lip scrub below!
