Saturday Morning and Fall Harvest
Last week was a particularly hard week. It’s been a lot of work and, to be frank, I’m exhausted. I only scheduled ONE event on my calendar for the entire week. Which isn’t like me at all.
So Saturday, I kept it easy and decided I to sleep in and take care of myself. I slept a full 10 hours. When I finally got up, I put on a “throw-on-and-go” dress, made some toast and sat down for some braindead tv time.
I don’t have cable. I’ve lived in Seattle for 6 years this month and I’ve never once had cable. This year though, I did get basic channels along with my internet plan. Which means one thing to me: The Hallmark Channel.
That’s right – this is a no-judgement-zone, friends. When life gets hard there is ONE thing I love … and that is hanging out on the couch on Saturday morning and watching the freakin’ Hallmark channel. This is probably some deep dark secret stuff I shouldn’t be sharing. I don’t normally own up to things like this but Saturday was pure perfection and I have to rave about it.
It’s “Fall Harvest”. Meaning there’s apparently a new Fall movie on every Saturday. Every single tv movie is mind dumbing and has an easy story line that always ends happily. What more could you ask for? I don’t even mind the commercials!
It also gave me the opportunity to clean my kitchen, organize my winter closet and put away all of the shoes that somehow made it out to the living room. I made tea and ate spaghetti squash. I left the house eventually to walk around my little neighborhood and get a pedicure. It was, honestly, the best mental health day I could have asked for.
