Cozy Night In: My Go-To Movies and Snack Pairings
It’s safe to say that everyone I know is on a bit of a budget these days. Staying indoors and finding ways to use what you already have is top of mind. So, in the spirit of the winter months – and with a little imagination, pillow forts, and extra-luxurious blankets – I’m giving you my go-to movies and snack pairings.
Cozy Night In: My Go-To Movies and Snack Pairings
I’ve got 11 go-tos, and honestly? This doesn’t even include my action and adventure picks… Note to self: future blog post!
Pride & Prejudice (2005) + Mini Vanilla Bean Tea Scones
You know the ones I’m talking about. I love them with a hot cup of tea and a splash of cream. This is one of my top ten comfort movies – I’ve watched it more times than I can count, and somehow it never loses its magic. I’ll never get enough.
A League of Their Own + Cracker Jacks
Come on, friends. How do you watch any baseball movie without Cracker Jacks?! It’s the perfect nostalgic snack for this women-empowered classic.
Crazy Rich Asians + Double Chocolate Chip Cookies
Don’t ask me why, but Crazy Rich Asians is the movie I turn to whenever I’m feeling a little down. It got me through some rough dates and even one breakup. Naturally, it needs a snack that makes you happy -and that’s Double Chocolate Chip Cookies. Obviously.
While You Were Sleeping + Potato Chips
One of my all-time favorite holiday movies. I’m pretty sure I could close my eyes, press play in my mind, and recite it start to finish. My favorite scene is when Lucy has dinner with the Callaghans and the mom keeps commenting on how creamy her mashed potatoes are. Iconic! I absolutely adore her. But who casually has mashed potatoes on hand? So I always reach for potato chips instead.
The Princess Bride + a BLT
If you know the tale, you know the line: “True love is the greatest thing in the world – except for a nice MLT…” Well, I’m not one for mutton, but turkey bacon? Absolutely. Every time he says it, I’m reminded just how delicious a BLT sounds.
Ever After + a Proper Charcuterie Board
Another all-time favorite. It’s the perfect snacking movie. I want everything: chicken deli slices (“go… catch a chicken“), lovely French cheeses, maybe a little Spanish chocolate. Go big or go home.
Mary Poppins + Skittles
Maybe it’s the spoonful of sugar and how it helps the medicine go down… but Skittles feel practically perfect in every rainbow way for this bright and classic whimsical movie.
Chocolat + Mexican Hot Chocolate or Chocolate Truffles
This movie is severely underrated. I’ve watched it countless times, and it always makes me crave chocolate — either Belgian truffles or, like in the film, a warm hot chocolate with a little chili powder for a kick.
How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days + Nachos
You thought I was going to say a big juicy burger, didn’t you?! Andy does take that giant bite… but no. I want nachos. Why? I don’t know. I don’t make the rules. (Okay, I absolutely do – this is my blog – but I’m offering zero explanation. I would simply counter with: why not?)
Home Alone & Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream
I know in the scene, Kevin McCalister is stuffing his face with a huge sundae – complete with hot fudge and marshmallows. Friends, I’m too old for that. Give me one flavor, and I’m happy. Mint Chocolate Chip is my forever favorite, but during the holidays? If there’s a candy cane flavor… all bets are off.
Sleepless in Seattle & Popcorn
An all-time traditional snack mixed with a movie classic. This movie goes through the Holidays and stops in two of the best cities in the world (in my opinion): New York and Seattle (aka home). Mix it up with kettle corn if you want, but honestly, the OG is perfect.
Thanks for reading, my friends! What’s your favorite movie-and-snack pairing?
