Life Update & Changes
All good things must come to an end, right? It’s so we can start new chapters and create new opportunities!
When I got back from Australia last month, I received an offer from a company that I just couldn’t refuse. Everything in me said to accept it, so I did! I’ve been working in my new position for a month now. Time has flown by, and with all the changes, I’ve dropped the ball on a few things, including this blog.
I’m working on finding a new routine to fit in time for blogging, but it’s been harder than I expected. I’m trying to be kind to myself. One thing I’ve managed to keep up with is my monthly book round-up and my bi-weekly newsletter (where I share more about my travels, adventures, and personal tidbits than I do on here).
Life Update & Changes
Obviously, I have a TON of travel posts to write and post. I probably have enough to cover an entire year’s worth of content. Which, gosh, I am SO excited to look back, relive, and write for you guys. Please know though, it’s mostly for myself. I often look back at my old blog posts and I’m so amazed at how much my life has changed and who I’ve become.
I want to keep this space positive and happy. I want the new generation to know it’s okay to be a Barbie and genuinely BE PROUD of ourselves. As women, it’s often looked at as ugly, when we speak so highly of ourselves and I don’t think that’s fair. I think we should love ourselves. Be kind to ourselves. And above all, be our own best friends.
New Job
It’s unbelievable that I got back from my big adventure last month but for the first time in YEARS, I’m learning new technical things and how to project manage in a different capacity. I’m also working with a friend of mine I’ve known from years of professional experience. He’s been nothing but kind to me while I ramp up and re-learn how to work from 8 am to 5 pm.
I know it’ll be an adjustment BUT this job really aligns with everything I wanted. Including some travel, the ability to WFH, a higher salary, and a much smaller company where my voice will be heard.
Community Building
A new goal of mine is to be more present in my community and take advantage of everything it’s got to offer. The Seattle Public Library, unfortunately, got hit with a ransomware attack. So, going to the library has been out of the question til they’ve got that backup and running. Whoever is working on that deserves a BIG raise cause it’s been almost a month and man-o-man, that could not have been easy.
I’ve also been going to the Farmer’s Markets whenever possible to support locally. This week I picked up the most scrumptious honey EVER. It’s by a Western Washington Bee Farmer selling 100% Grade A raw honey. OMG, friends. Just … OMG. It’s so rich and wonderful. Like maple syrup but honey! My tea has never been so good.
New Morning Routine
I’m officially a 6 am girlie and it’s hard, but it’s getting easier. Habits are funny like that. I’ve had to learn to get up right when my alarm goes off and then I walk to the kitchen and get a glass of water. That act seems silly but it prevents me from sinking back into bed.
Get My Booty Back in Shape (literally)
Another checkbox I’m trying to get off is to get my backside back into shape. I mean that literally. Since the pandemic, I’ve done a lot less muscle-building and toning. My goal is to lift, shape, and appreciate! Haha.
The way I’m doing this is all through YouTube! I’ve been working out in the mornings after 30 minutes of waking up. I mix it up between pilates, yoga, and weights! Since it’s been just shy of a month of making this a priority, I haven’t seen much change in my body but I feel amazing, especially when I feel a burn the day after a hard workout.
It doesn’t seem like huge changes but after traveling every day for 5 months straight, these are life-altering and something I haven’t been able to prioritize. If all goes well and right, I may have another big life-changing possibility coming up too. Fingers crossed, my friends.
As always, thank you so much for following along. I promise to get back to my regular scheduled programming soon. I may need to change when I drop posts because Mondays and Thursdays haven’t been working. Plus, my bi-weekly email goes out on Sunday and that’s a lot of emails for you guys.
Hope you’re having an incredible week!
