Sunday Routine: Blogging, Meal Planning, Meal Prep, & Sewing
Hello Hello, my darling blogging friends! I got the idea for this post while looking at my Meal Plan at the grocery store. As you guys know, my friend, Shanna, is a close book blogging friend but she’s been into meal planning. This past week I was giving her examples of what I do and realized I should be sharing it with you too.
So, big thanks to Shanna for this idea!
Sunday Routine: Blogging, Meal Planning, Meal Prep, & Knitting
Sunday has been the one day of the week when I play catch up. This was my first week going back into the office 3x and I’m definitely going to need time to adjust. Thursday was such a tough day that I didn’t make my bed. Something I haven’t done in 3 whole years. It’s been a part of my morning routine since the beginning of the pandemic. So, this was an insane reminder of how crazy and unorganized my life was 5x a week.
I hated the feeling so much that I was stressed out all day at work. My apartment had dishes in the sink, a bed unmade, 4 loads of laundry to be done, and trash that desperately needed to be taken out. It actually distracted me from work. I don’t know how parents are doing this.
That said, my new world order is Sunday Rest & Catch Up Day. No matter what.
Blogging
I tend to have blogging Saturday or Sunday. Where Shanna and meet to talk, gossip, and sometimes work on our blog posts. For the past two weeks, we’ve met on Sundays because it’s been the easiest on our schedules. I’m sure it’ll go back to Saturdays but it’s a great way to start the day because we meet at 9 am.
It’s also the one day where I get to treat myself to a drink and sometimes a treat. However, it makes me feel super accomplished and like I didn’t waste the whole day away.
Meal Planning
Previously I made my meal plan on Saturday and then did my grocery shopping and meal prepping on Sunday. This week I was so stressed, I meal planned on Thursday. Below is my meal plan for the week. I also went to the store on Saturday to ensure I didn’t go off script and was able to stick to my budget.
This week my big-ticket items ensure I have a packed lunch for the days I’m in the office but also consider the snacks they’ve been providing to us. I’ve been trying to eat more protein-packed meals. I also want to make sure I have more salads so that’s also reflected in my meal plan for this week.
The two big meals I’m making are:
I’m excited to try both. I plan to get that Chili in my crock pot tonight so I can also have it for dinner. I also planned next week’s lunch with a Broccoli Rice Casserole I’ll be making next Sunday.
Meal Prep
This was pretty easy considering I had a lot of ingredients at home. Chili is a slow cooker meal so I throw it all in the bowl and peace out for 4 hours. Then the bowls are primarily cooking rice in the instant pot and turkey on the stove. I’ll assemble them into my Tupperware for the week and add them to my lunch box. I love a warm filling meal.
Sewing
A little sewing update. I will do a few blog posts on what I’ve been working on but today I’m working on chores and then I’m hoping to finalize the lining of the pattern design I’m hacking. I bought a few sewing rulers because I’m self-drafting the pattern to fit my vision. I’m really excited about the final result and cannot wait to share it with you guys. It’s a labor of love but it’s been fun!
This post was more like a check-in with you guys but let me know if you want me to keep sharing my meal plans with you guys! A lot of you enjoyed my no-spend month and learning how much I spent on groceries. For the week I did spend $40 but I also bought a few dry goods I was low on because they were on sale (beans, frozen onion) and I bought the ingredients for NEXT week’s main meal as well. My goal is to only buy produce next week to keep my costs low.
I’ve been debating if I want to have a No Spend July but I am traveling for two weekends next month. So, again, I don’t know if that’s fair.
Tune in to see what happens! 😅
