Summer Thrift Store Haul
Hello, my darling friends! I thought I would go old school and share my recent Summer Thrift Store Haul with you guys. It’s been a long time since I’ve shared my thrifted finds, but this one was such a success that I couldn’t keep you in the dark.
The thrift store is a fantastic place to buy retired, old, unwanted, disagreed, and sometimes new items. A lot of people buy things they don’t need or outgrow clothes and it’s a great way to be sustainable in our consumer day and age.
I’ve been a thrifter since I graduated college. There was a time when I was barely making ends meet. I lived off of ramen noodles, cheese, and broccoli. During those times I would sell my old clothes on eBay so I would have enough money to buy a pair of shorts at the thrift store for summer. Those days are behind me now but I still go to the thrift store for essential things that I know I be hard on (like jeans, durable sweaters, mugs, appliances, etc).
Summer Thrift Store Haul
As I’ve gotten older, I have been significantly more conscious of my thrift store purchase habits. My goal is to use everything and be mindful enough to consider whether I will use it for a long time or not.
It’ll be no surprise that my first time on my summer list is a…
Cordon Blue Summer sunflower mug
I saw this mug and had to buy it. Last year I decided to get rid of 90% of my mugs. Most of them were gifted to me and I didn’t love them. I wasn’t using any of them. Just the same two over and over. So I gave them to friends, put them in my apartment’s free pile, and started the journey of intentional mug purchasing. I LOVE this little mug. I cleaned it with Bar Keepers Friend and it looks brand new!

Basic grey stapler
I know what you’re thinking. It’s 2023! What do you need a stapler for?
Apparently, I need one for all of my knitting patterns! Every time I got to print one off (because I like handwriting notes, metrics, etc) I mix up the pages because I don’t have a stapler. It’s silly but a need. I decided I’m going to make it into an arts and craft project. More on that later!

A5 hole punch
Oh gosh, these suckers are $16-$20 on Amazon and I just didn’t have the heart to bite the bullet. I saw this one at my local thrift store and added it to my cart SO fast! I love adding new pages and handmade vision boards to my planner but it’s messy without a hole puncher. This little guy will be used for years!

Vintage gingham floral king bedsheet by Dan Rivers
I’m so in love with this bedsheet. I bought it specifically for the fabric. It’s 50% cotton and 50% polyester. It feels so soft and after I washed it (twice) and added lavender oil to my dryer wool balls it smells amazing and feels brand new! I can’t wait to use this to make my summer dream dress.

Vintage whimsical garden master’s queen bedsheet by JCPenney
This is some of the most beautiful fabric I’ve ever seen. I’m beyond thrilled to turn this into a dress for the summer as well. I couldn’t pass it up. It’s 65% polyester and 35% cotton. Polyester is a synthetic resin and not very good for the environment but taking this already-made sheet and turning it into something I will get over 100 wears in, will be totally worth it.

2 1980s vintage apron sewing patterns
Oh my goodness. I was giddy with delight over discovering these patterns. They were $.99 each! These two are perfect patterns for beginners and I have two friends I am teaching to sew over the summer. These patterns are the McCalls Crafts pattern 781 from 1985 and the Simplicity Crafts pattern 9433 from 1989.
Price: $1.98
Bringing my total to be: $20.93
Thanks for reading about my Summer Thrift Store Haul! I know I didn’t buy any clothing but that’s because I have enough and, though I do need tank tops, I had a lot of projects in store for myself in the future.
Hope you’re all happy, healthy, and as excited for summer as I am!

These are great finds! It’s thrilling to thrift something you’ve needed, but haven’t been able to pull the trigger on at full price (like the stapler!). It’s like a treasure hunt, ha. Also, I’m so intrigued in the bedsheet ideas, to turn them into dresses! How cool! Thanks for sharing! 🌻

Oh gosh. I’ve been able to find so many treasures! I will definitely share my bedsheet dresses, once I get to them. I’m planning on a sewing day next week. Thank you so much! 💕
