A Non-Partier’s Guide to Las Vegas: How to Enjoy Sin City in 3 Days
I’m assuming you’re here because you’re just like me. A non-partier. Whether you’ve aged out of it or never have been fond of that party life, I got you. We are the same! Hence why I’m sharing A Non-Partier’s Guide to Las Vegas: How to Enjoy Sin City in 3 Days.
Las Vegas is alive and well. According to every Uber driver, I came in touch with, which was a lot because despite it being called a “strip”, Las Vegas Boulevard is long and you do not want to walk the entire 4.2 miles in the middle of summer!
That said, even though Las Vegas is bustling, a warning to you all… if you are not a smoker or are sensitive to smoke (like me), it is everywhere. It is legal, and encouraged, indoors. There is nothing you can do about it. You will go home with smoke in your hair, nails, and clothes. That’s just how Vegas is.
I am noting this because I completely forgot until I stepped into our hotel lobby and got hit with a wave of memories.
A Non-Partier’s Guide to Las Vegas: How to Enjoy Sin City in 3 Days
Truth be told, I’ve been to Vegas before. This was my third time traveling to the infamous sin city but it was a different experience this time. The other two were for bachelorette parties. This trip was just to get some sunshine in the dead of winter. So, we planned to keep it casual and easygoing.
How we got there
Alaska Airlines’ winter sale! Flights cost $99 each way.
Parked at the airport and then Uber-ed to the hotel.
Where we stayed
The Wynn Hotel on the Strip! We definitely splurged on a two-queen bedroom, but it was a fabulous hotel experience. I would love to stay again and I wish I had taken more pictures. I loved the casino floor, the floral designs, and the gym!
Yes, I 100% took advantage of their gym facilities because it was SO lovely. I woke up early and hit the treadmill. I also snagged a few free water bottles and coffee from their spa cart.
It was so nice. I would love to come back in the spring or fall to utilize the pool.
Day one
We arrived in the last half of the day so we didn’t do anything wild. We walked around to get reacquainted with the city and then settled on getting burgers at Prime Burger in the Venetian. I also got a Morning Spritzer, which was lovely.
After, my friend and I decided to get one more drink so we stopped at the Royal Britannia. This turned into a few drinks! We made sure to leave before 11 to be awake in time for breakfast the next morning.
Day two
Breakfast
Walking to Hash House a Go Go, we realized the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo was in town the same weekend as our trip. I will not pretend to be disappointed in all the cowboy hats or the men who were kind enough to hold the door for us. However, it was very busy. Especially at a hash house.
Regardless, we were determined to have a great brunch, and even though the wait was 45 mins, I’m happy to report it was good. It wasn’t magical, amazing, or anything spectacular but that’s because I have a dairy intolerance. Thus, I got the basic farmhouse breakfast.
My friends had a great meal and I loved how they stuck a sprig of rosemary in everything. More like half a rosemary bush! I’ll let you see the photos above.
Meow Wolf Omega Mart
Next was my favorite part of Las Vegas! This is the second Meow Wolf interactive museum I’ve had the liberty to explore and I loved it. No, obsessed with it!
If you have never been to a Meow Wolf, you have to go. They’re innovative, wonderful, and full of imagination. There is so much creativity in every element of your interaction.
To start, each museum has its own story. You can choose to investigate the mystery/play along OR you can just explore! We choose to explore. I wish I had grasped the story ahead of time but if you pay close attention, you’ll catch on to the basis.
Omega Mart starts in a super wild and wacky supermarket. Nothing is what it seems. Everything is, quite literally, what it isn’t. In short, I could have spent hours upon hours in there. Eventually, you find a door that takes you into an alternative world.
I’m not going to ruin this for you but if you take away anything from this post… you must go to Meow Wolf!
Dinner at Martha Stewart’s The Bedford
After earning our dinner, by walking around Meow Wolf for over 3 hours, we went home and dressed up to go to dinner. My friend is completely obsessed with Martha so we put in a reservation at her restaurant, The Bedford, a month prior to our trip.
Unfortunately, we didn’t have the best experience. To start, we were placed on the “outside patio” of the restaurant which was next to the casino, and essentially felt like we were fine dining in a mall. 😞 Next, there wasn’t much on the menu I could order, due to my intolerance. We found out almost everything is pre-made and/or prepped, which bummed my friend out a lot. Regardless of the limitations, I was able to get their seasonal pasta dish which was loaded with lemon, capers, and bread crumbs.
My friends also had an unlucky experience despite splitting the Oysters Rockefeller and dessert. They had multiple cocktails but each fell the tiniest bit flat for them. These are not picky people, either!
In the end, I do recommend the bread basket because that was not only a treat but a display of beauty. I would also recommend a glass of the Beringer Reserve Knight’s Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, which I later googled and found out they were charging $18 a glass for a $32 bottle of wine. Now, I understand the Vegas markup but I found out that you can pick it up at Total Wine and More which I thought I would be annoyed by. Instead, I am thrilled to snag a few bottles for future dinner parties!
Day three
The Unplanned Morning
Our last full day was a bit of a wash. Our friend wasn’t feeling well from the previous night’s meal. We took the day very slowly. I got up early and utilized the gym while one of my friends caught up on work, and the other slept.
I was starving but we couldn’t make up our minds about where to eat. To be honest, the smoke from the casinos got to me. I got nauseous and incredibly faint. We rushed outside for fresh air and I realized I’d gone too long without eating after my workout. So, instead of wasting more time trying to find the perfect meal, we settled on a Panda Express! 😅
Truthfully? I would do it again. That chain restaurant saved me!
It was enough to get my blood sugar back up to normal and we decided to walk the strip to the end. We stopped at a huge candy shop and also walked through a few of the famous hotels we didn’t get to explore the night before.
Dinner at Red 8
Since our friend still wasn’t well, we decided to grab dinner at Red 8 because it was in our hotel and Asian food tends to be dairy-free. There was a wait so we snagged a drink at the Tower Suite Bar. Our server was amazing and I would highly recommend it to anyone. It was uppity but in a laid-back way. My gin drink was amazing.
Red 8 was my favorite meal in Vegas. I know it’s ranked as casual dining but it was phenomenal! I cannot rave about this restaurant enough. My friend is an ordering expert so I let her pick out everything. We ate like queens and I loved everything we got. Everything! I had dreams of this food for weeks after returning home.
Absinthe
Last but certainly not least, my friend and I ended the night at the Absinthe tent show at Caesar’s Palace. As described, it was unapologetically raunchy and undeniably hilarious. My friend loved every second of it and I was floored by the actors’ talents.
We were rolling with laughter!
They were super kind and upgraded us to table seats to be a part of the show. We didn’t have to do anything but a few actors had to stand on top of our table. We had so much fun and I would recommend this show to anyone who’s open to sexy humor and shirtless… well, everything. 🫣
Day Four
Lost Jacket, Lunch, Home
For our last day, we took things very easy. We slept in, packed up our stuff and then I realized I left my favorite packable travel jacket at the show the night before! My friends are the very best and we decided to walk all the way to Caesar’s Palace to see if we could find it. No such luck, and I’ve since replaced it (cause, it’s the BEST travel jacket, you guys)!
I believe we skipped breakfast that morning, and since we were so far down the strip, we swung into Milk Bar for some cookies, and then I grabbed a huge sandwich from Lardo for brunch. I got the Hot Italian (no cheese) and it was delicious! Lardo is a Portland, Oregon sandwich shop that is well-known in the PNW. I’d never had one but snagged it in Vegas!
After we snagged an Uber and headed to the airport.
As you can tell, we had a lot of ups and downs throughout Vegas. We learned that we are excellent travel companions together but we don’t actually LOVE Vegas. If we had partied… I think we would have hated it.
Here are my recommendations!
