19 Reading Essentials I Love

I’ve been hitting the books hard since the pandemic. Last year I picked up more books in the year than ever before in my life and it’s been healthy for me! Both mentally and physically. So I’m saying the big list today. The 19 Reading Essentials I Love.

19 Reading Essentials I Love

As you know, I love reading. Specifically before bed. It helps put me to sleep and there’s no other way I want to spend a weekend. However, I’m also a huge audiobook lover and that’s how I primarily consume my books.

If you’re wondering how I do that, I get almost every single book from the library and through the Libby app. I also love picking up books from the free little libraries around my city. It’s fun to put them back or swap them out.

Physical Books

  • Library card
  • Bookmarks – sometimes I use a receipt but I love these bookmarks from etsy.
  • Kindle – mine is a hand-me-down from my mom but it’s perfect for travel.
  • Glasses – mine are prescription but these readers are so cute!
  • Mood setting music – I listen to a lot of jazz music, cafe, and fireplace sounds on youtube.
  • Goodreads – I update every chance I get!
  • Book blogger reviews and community
  • Access to free books – this would be an expensive hobby, otherwise.
  • A reading light – mine’s a lamp but so many friends swear by these.
  • Water bottle – when I go into another world and get dehydrated.
  • A hot cup of herbal tea – I’m obsessing over this mug.
  • Washington state wine – I did a whole books & bottles series. No better way to spend a Friday night.
  • Blanketthis one is weighted and sherpa!
  • Oat milk chocolate bars & other snacks

Audiobooks

I would love to know what some of YOUR favorite reading essentials are!

As always, my friends, thank you for reading and hope you’re happy, safe, and healthy where ever you are.

I love that mug and the bookmarks! Too cute! Washington wines are delicious. I got to do some wine tasting when I went to Seattle for work in October, and everything was amazing.

Do you ever use Hoopla? It’s a library based app like Libby, but I like it better for audiobooks. While they do not have quite as many new books as Libby, there is no wait to listen/read anything. If they have it, it’s available. I make heavy use of it when I write book lists for my blog.

Besides Hoopla, I’d say my Book of the Month subscription is an essential for me.
