How to make a Pinterest Vision Board

Hello, my darling friends! How are we in the second week of February? I cannot believe it! For the past 7 years, I’ve created a vision board on Pinterest. There are a number of reasons why but the first and foremost is that I don’t like the physical vision board displayed in my home. More on that later, for now, I’m excited to share How to make a Pinterest Vision Board.

How to make a Pinterest Vision Board

Every year I put together a secret board for the year. As much as I love you guys, there’s something personal about manifesting your dreams. I also am superstitious and I’m not ashamed to admit that. No one needs to know my business just as I don’t need to know anyone else’s. 😊

I’ll give you some great priorities that could be on my list but will definitely be on others. I think priorities really depend on your age and where you are in your life.

Seven years ago my board was filled with:

  • cozy one-bedroom apartments
  • tea parties
  • women with 4-pack abs
  • bleach-blonde hair inspo.

That year, I:

  • Decided to move out on my own
  • Dye my hair blonde
  • Was my fittest I’ve ever been
  • Learned about tea and its health benefits

Creating your Pinterest vision board

First things first! You need to figure out whether or not you want your board to be a secret. It’s very easy to know how to create a board on Pinterest.

  • Click on “Saved”
  • Then click the “+” on the right-hand side
  • Click on “create board”
  • Name your board (Mine are Vision Board + Year)
  • Click on the toggle button to make it secret

How to organize and define your goals for the year

I’ve been seeing my therapist for roughly 5 years now. Best money I’ve ever spent, by the way. She’s been so great about ironing out the important factors in my life.

It’s best to break them into 5 main categories.

You don’t want to overload yourself. You can have sub-boards to more accurately organize your life’s visions. I do not do this but I can see it being beneficial.

Examples of categories (or sub-boards):

  1. Blogging
  2. Fitness
  3. Relationship
  4. Health and food
  5. Mental health and wellness
  6. Vacation
  7. Career/business owner
  8. Outfit
  9. Finances/debt repayment
  10. House hunting

I choose 6-8 pins from each category for my vision board.

Sometimes you may not know what categories are interesting until you start pinning. And that’s okay! Maybe you pinned a lot of beach yoga. So, this is the year, consider saving to go on a yoga retreat.

How to find pins for your vision board

This is the fun part! If you don’t care about your pins and you just want to find ones that match your categories, this could be as easy as searching for “Fitness”. I don’t know about you, but that’s not going to cut it for me. I’m generally looking for something very specific.

Examples of how niche you can look:

  • female solo travel London
  • work from home desk organization
  • cozy country cottage yellow
  • …Chris Evans (ahem)

How to stay on track:

I set a calendar reminder on my phone and also put it in my planner. It’s good to review your dreams at least once a month. This year, because I’m looking to make significant changes, I review it almost every day.

I also made a mini vision board on canvas (example above) and set it as my laptop background. I added my 5 categories/words to it as well. This helps me visualize my priorities.

Does this help?

Honestly? Yes.

Without a doubt, the more you look at your vision board, the more you will manifest what you want. Last year, I changed my vision board in the middle of the year because I realized what I truly wanted needed to wait another 2 years. It was on my mind so much, I started crunching numbers and realized if I wanted to make my dream into a reality, I had to do A LOT more prep work.

It provided the clarity I needed to successfully move forward. I then created little goals and am well on track to hit my big dream in the next few years. And I’m SO excited about it!

Does this really work?

Yes and no.

It does for me, which is why I continue to do it every year. I love how my pins match my values and dreams, and it keeps my mind open and focused on greater opportunities. However, if you don’t plan to use it regularly, then it’s nothing but a fun side project.

At the end of the day, it doesn’t hurt to try it. You may realize a canva board is better suited for your lifestyle. Maybe print it out and put it in a place you can see every day. Either way, Pinterest is a wonderful tool to help you on this journey.

Have you used Pinterest for a vision board before?

If you’re willing to share, I would love to know what some of your big goals are this year!

Happy pinning. 💕
