Go-To Easy Christmas Cookie Gift Recipes
I started this tradition when I was just starting to get serious about paying off my student loans. At the time, I was throwing as much money as I possibly could do my payments just to try and make a dent. So, I was looking for inexpensive ways to make gifts for loved ones but on a very tight budget.
One thing I got good at was getting groceries on sale at Safeway and Fred Meyer. A skill I still use today. In the end, I was able to make quite a few batches of cookies for a great deal but my best trick was in the eco-friendly packaging!
Eco-Friendly Packaging
Every time I went to the thrift store, I would look through the dishes section and pick up Holiday themed plates. I would only buy them in a pack. A lot of people get rid of dishes like these because they break one in a set or they don’t like them anymore. I would pick up one to three at a time for less than $2. I could often get a single plate for .50¢ depending on the thrift shop.
This was a nice touch and great to use as Santa’s cookie plate or to pass on to another family for their cookie gifts.
Back then festive plastic bags or boxes cost a pretty penny. Instead, I would wrap the plate of cookies in saran wrap or in an off-brand gallon-size baggie. Then, boom! Done! A great holiday gift for friends, family, or neighbors.
Now, let’s get into my favorite cookies!
Cinnamon Tea Cookies
I checked out this book from the library in November and discovered a fabulous Cinnamon Tea Cookie recipe from it. I am a big tea drinker and I’m not ashamed to admit I had quite a few of these for breakfast with my Earl Grey. These cookies were quick and easy and required 12-15 minutes in the oven. Quite a lot of butter but I used clarified butter and they were great!

Salted Brownie Cookies
You need a little chocolate in every cookie delivery right? This one is extra fun because not only is it a cookie but a brownie too. The perfect amount of sweet and salty. If these are going to kiddos, sub the coffee for vanilla or a peppermint extract!

The BEST Cinnamon Roll Cookies
Oh gosh, these are SO freakin’ yummy and a new one to my cookie collection. This is the perfect addition to a Holiday cookie assortment, especially for those who love cinnamon. Save this one for a rainy day!

Note: I sub vinegar or lemon (whichever I have) for the cream of tarter.
Double each recipe and you’ll have plenty to go around!
