All the Audiobooks I Listened to This Year (Q2/22)
Hello Dolls! Can we talk about how we’re in JULY right now?! July! This year is flying by, in comparison to 2021. Anyway, we’re half way through and that can only mean one thing for the blog today… it’s time for All the Audiobooks I Listened to This Year (Q2/22)!
I’m coming at you strong again. I didn’t mean to obliterate my goals again but walking with an audiobook has been so good for my mental health. It really teetered off in June though, I’m not gonna lie. My big issue has been our Seattle weather. It’s been the worst Spring & Summer so far. All grey clouds and rain.
I’ve been doubling up on Vitamin D though and determined to walk more throughout Q3!

All the Audiobooks I Listened to This Year (Q2/22)
Shall we discuss goals?
- Listen to 2 audiobooks a month 🎧
- Destroyed this goal again!
- I listened to 12 books in 3 months.
- Try different book genres 📚
- I explored 2 different categories this quarter. (This could have been better)
- Romance Novels
- Contemporary Fiction
- I explored 2 different categories this quarter. (This could have been better)
- Listen to books with POC as the MC (main character) 👩🏻👩🏽👩🏾👩🏿
- 3 out of the 12 books. (Yikes! I will crush this next quarter)
- Aka 25% of the books.
If you’re interested in my progress, let’s be friends on Goodreads! Leave me a comment with your Goodreads link and I’ll follow you back. I also update Twitter quite often on the books I’m reading for Books & Bottles, as well as any adventure I’m currently on. Both are a win/win to follow. 💕
… and now, the books!
April 2022
Her Wicked Marques (Sinful Wallflowers, #2) by Stacy Reid
3.5 Stars – The second book in the Sinful Wallflower series. Totally honest, I loved the first one more. This book didn’t pick up for me until 60% into the book but I genuinely loved Maryann and her relationship with her brother. Nicolas St. Ives, the Marquess of Rothbury, is out for vengeance for his childhood sweetheart but Maryann captures his attention along the way. I adored the sneaking and found myself dying for them to be put into the same room with one another.

One Italian Summer by Rebecca Serle
4 Stars – I finished this audiobook in two days. It was a love letter to Italy and that had me hooked from the first chapter. The author’s descriptions make you feel like you’re truly there and since I had been stuck in the SNOW… I was thrilled to be in the Italian sun, mentally.
Katie and her mom are full of life together. I actually really enjoyed the love triangle, though some would view it as cheating so if that’s a trigger for you, maybe avoid.
This book is a reminder that love isn’t perfect. Life isn’t perfect… it’s messy, but it’s also really beautiful and fun along the way.

Hook, Line, and Sinker by Tess Bailey
5 stars – Oh, Tessa Bailey. How you didn’t disappoint me. This is the sequel & final of the Bellinger Sisters series. I was praying for a second after It Happened One Summer because I actually loved Fox and Hannah’s personalities so much more than Piper & Brendan.
Fox had his eyes opened to a real relationship with Hannah at the end of Bailey’s last book. He’d been pining and love sick for her since. Making his old habits stop cold Turkey. The way Fox is with Hannah is totally my type so it was easy to root for him from the beginning.
I loved this book so much. I would read it again.

The Sweetheart Deal by Miranda Liasson
4 Stars – I was really surprised by this book. My book selection went from a super hot and bothered romance novel, to the sweetest more darling small-town story yet.
Every character was loveable and I straight-up want to live in Blossom Glen and be friends with everyone. It was SO easy to fall in love with Leo and want to be best friends with Tessa.
Recommending to my mom. .5 on the chili pepper meter.

Float Plan by Trish Doller
4.5 Stars – I might need to change my rating to one because I was thrown into the book and unable to get out of it. It might deserve a 5-star rating. This book was grief at its worst. It broke my heart over and over again and, yet, along with Anna, we mended it back together.
Anna & Keane’s love is so slow and gradual. Fast for Keane but so much slower for Anna as she grieves her ex-fiancé’s life. I loved how they were strangers, then trusted strangers, easy friendly friends, friends with attractions, and then lovers.
Ugh, my heart is so happy just thinking about their happiness!
TW // Suicide off-page.

Dial A for Aunties by Jess Sutanto
4 Stars – HAHAHA! I did NOT read the synopsis. I didn’t read a single review. I’m so happy I did that.
I DIED laughing with this book – I loved it. Meddy is beyond relatable, not wanting to disappoint the women who raised her but also to be independent and on her own.
If you want a great laugh, this book is our entertainment and I would re-read it just to live through the craziness all over again.
TW // almost sexual assault. Accidental murder.

The No-Show by Beth O’Leary
4 Stars – Ohhhh this book was a roller coaster ride for me. I was convinced that every single one of the women should be in therapy. I was right but the fact of the matter is everyone in this book should be in therapy.
You don’t know if you love or hate Carter until 87% of the way through the book. I got so angry then my heart was wrenched from me. Ugh, I don’t know if my heart has fully recovered.
I’d absolutely recommend it.

Tools of Engagement (Hot & Hammered, #3) by Tessa Bailey
2 Stars – I tried. I did. It had a great setup but I just didn’t love this book.
I just … no.

How to Love Your Neighbor by Sophie Sullivan
2 Stars – This was another miss for me… I wanted so much to love this “enemies to lover” trope but it was not there for me. Like, I like all the characters except the main characters?
It took forever and I barely remember it.

The Inn on Sweetbriar Lane by Jeannie Chin
3 Stars – Another book I wanted to love but … it was just … idk. Fine? I really liked Jane’s backstory and her Chinese American heritage but other than that… Clay was kind of blah.
I didn’t fall for him but I do think this would be a cute beach read and a book my mom would probably enjoy.

How to Be a Wallflower (Would-be Wallflowers, #1) by Eloisa James
3.5 Stars – Soooo… Chloe is kind of a bawler for a historical romance character. She’s determined not to get married because she inherited and is in charge of the businesses and money from her father when he died.
I love how clever, smart, and witty she is. She’s also a total ton hottie and every eligible man is after her. Insert Jake who’s American and broody. They strike an outrageous deal that is so silly, that they become friends. After initially hating each other!
This was pretty slow til 60% of the way through and then I was hooked.

Book Lovers by Emily Henry
4.5 Stars – I really thought I was going to hate this book. I did.
In fact, I was convinced it was overhyped and I would get my hopes all up but no. No no no. In fact, the opposite happens, and let me tell you … I loved Nora from the moment she said:
I’m the city person. Not the one who meets the hot farmer. The other one.
The uptight, manicured literary agent, reading manuscripts from atop her Peloton while a serene beach scene screen saver drifts, unnoticed, across her computer screen.
I’m the one who gets dumped.
