The Best 7 Things to do Solo in Asheville
When I got to Asheville, I didn’t really know what to expect. Especially on a solo trip. I was nervous there wasn’t going to be a lot to do or anything that I was interested in doing.
Boy, I was wrong! It ended up being the perfect addition to my solo southern road trip.
If you’re headed there alone, never fear, I’ve got you! Here’s The Best 7 Things to do Solo in Asheville.
The Best 7 Things to do Solo in Asheville
Asheville reminds me a lot of the PNW. The community is filled with liberal artists, brewers and hikers. Everyone is friendly, with a dash of southern charm.
It’s known for good food, beer and the outdoors. Which is exactly what this list is filled with!
One // Go for a Hike through Blue Ridge Parkway
Asheville is surrounded by trees and mountains. It’s one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever been to. How can you not partake in a hike? There are tons from beginners to advanced.
If you’re new to hiking alone, check out my post on Female Solo Hiking to help make you feel more comfortable!
Two // Pizza and Beer at the Movie Theater Brewery
Asheville Pizza & Brewing! What a great idea to not only be a brewery, but to also serve pizza (with vegan options?) AND be a movie theater?? Come on. Best solo treat/activity ever.
Pro-tip: Snag your ticket early. They’ll sell out ASAP Fri-Sun nights.
Three // Biltmore Estate
This was a surprise and delight. I actually think I would have overwhelmed if I had done this experience with friends or family. I got to go at my own pace, spend extra time at the gift shop and go to the winery.
This is especially magical at Christmas, if you’re solo. They have you enter with a large group so you really don’t feel alone at all. Book your ticket well in advance during this time.
Four // Adventure Center
This is great for groups but also solo travelers! Especially those who love adventure and are always up for an adrenaline rush. The Asheville Adventure Center is for you.
From kayaking to zip-lining, these guys literally have everything at one place. I didn’t get the opportunity to go and it’s my one regret from my trip.
Five // Brewery Hop
Something similar to the PNW, Asheville is known for their breweries. All local, all brewed in house, all worth it. This would be a great tasting/hopping experience. There are also a few brewery tours on Viator!
They’re also known for local ciders (definitely try Noble Cider!). They also have a few wineries on the outskirt of town, if you have a car.
Six // Explore the River Arts District & Take an Art Class
This area of Asheville is for the cool people. The art studios and galleries were built in former industrial buildings. It’s pact with unique pieces of art and awesome people. You can also book different types of classes while you’re there.
Seven // Get Brisket
Despite how much the PNW it feels, Asheville is still the south! Meaning, they’ve got some of the best barbecue you’re ever gonna taste. I swung into Luella’s BBQ and it was exactly what I needed for a midday break.
Did I miss anything on my list??
If so, leave them in the comment section below because I’d love to know what others like to do for my next trip out there! It won’t be any time soon but I’ve been dreaming about going back since I left.
Happy Traveling, my friends!
