When I first got to Bumbershoot I thought “Okkkay… you might be too old for this, Alli”. I felt like I was totally out of my element. As a person who thoroughly believes in doing what makes you happy, wearing what makes you happy and what predicts your personality — there were a lot of unwise fashion choices happening.

What was spot on, however was how terrific some of the artists were. I was SO stoked to find out that, yes, Hozier is as amazing live as his album. I mean, the harmonization and folk vibes were incredibly mesmerizing. I’m glad I was able to witness it in person.

There were quite a few others I got to see, including: Robert Delong, The Floozies, some of Brandon Flowers and Colony House.

Robert Delong was really entertaining and he’s got a talent for knowing who his audience is. I would definitely listen to her album while training for a run. It’s upbeat and danceable. He’s also a local boy from Bothell!

The Floozies were amazing. I was so surprised. One brother plays the drums the entire set and the other is on the guitar and a macbook. I mean, their energy is outstanding and I guess they’ll be back at the Showbox in October. I may have to check that out.

Ellie Goulding — Holy Life! Was insane. First off, she shows up in her “pajamas”, as she called them. Y’all, the pjs she’s wearing is a $1,500 Daffy Duck jersey by Moschino! She killed it. Not only did she pair it with combat boots and a pair of black leather shorts but her set was phenomenal. No joke, she’s as amazing in person as she is on her album/radio. To top off the entire night, she came out and sang my favorite rendition of Elton John’s beloved “Your Song” and I about lost my damn mind.

That one song made up for every single terrible fashion choice I had to endure, the crazy teenagers running into me and all of the second hand smoke. For the love, Ellie. That was to die for.

I took just a tiny bit of film for you. I was really trying to live in the moment of the song. Enjoy!
