The Best Vegan Food in LA
LA is known for a lot of things. Old Hollywood, beautiful and luxurious real estate, tourism and beaches. It’s really a melting pot of different nationalities and cultures all in one. Which is why, there is something for everyone in LA. Including the ever dairy-intolerant, me! Which is why I’m going to share my The Best Vegan Food in LA!
Very similarly to my Best Places to Eat in San Diego guide, this will be a working post because… to be frank, I didn’t have enough time to even hit up the Vegan District of LA. That’s right, Vegan District. From donuts to pizza and sushi, that’s going to be the place I hit up first on my next trip.
That said, my amazing friend was a bomb hostess and genuinely thought about me on this trip and I want to highlight all the fantastic food stops we made. There’s no better way to see LA than with a local. Honestly, she knew all the best spots and knew when you’d need outdoor dining options vs takeaway.
The Best Vegan Food in LA
Each of these spots were amazing with their restricts during this crazy time. I felt completely safe with their guidelines and that means a lot coming from Seattle (where we’re pretty strict). There wasn’t a moment of anxiousness at any of these places. So, if you don’t feel comfortable with outdoor seating, definitely grab an order to-go! (See below for some picnic supplies)
Cafe Gratitude – Larchmont
This place exudes respect, love and alllll the good vibes. Cafe Gratitude is the yoga of restaurants. Not to mention each plate is named to be an affirmation for yourself. Example: I ordered I AM TERRIFIC and when they brought me my meal, they said “You are Terrific!”. Which really just confirmed my affirmation.
Between the menu, quality of food and atmosphere, this place was high on my list. I could see myself getting lunch there, at least once a week, if I were an LA local. They have a few locations but definitely check this one out.

Gracias Madre – West Hollywood
We had every intention of splurging at this celeb favorite restaurant but, we booked our outdoor reservation during restaurant week! This was SUCH a treat. We had a full and savory 5 course meal. Topped with the best brownie and ice cream I’ve ever had, for dessert. It’s also a great location for celebrity sightings and people watching.

Alfred’s Coffee – Multiple Locations
I favor the Alfred’s in Studio City but there a quite a few other gorgeous locations. They have amazing milk substitutes for any drink order, along with three pastries that are often available: The Vegan Classic Tea Scone, Vegan Morning Glory Muffin & Vegan Blueberry Coffee Cake. Add a side of paparazzi and celebrity sighting, and that’s Alfred’s in a wrap!

Magpies Soft Serve – Silver Lake
Holy Soft Serve Heavennnn! It’s very rare when I can walk into an ice cream shop and have multiple choices. This entire menu is the opposite of that. It’s a full vegan menu with a few milk ice cream options for the non-vegans. Additionally, they sell pie and they’re ALL vegan. I honestly could have cried. It was such a treat and I cannot wait to go back!
Locations in Silver Lake, Tarzana & Highland Park. Flavors differ per spot.

Fōnuts – Studio City
Following up with another local vegan treat spot. Fōnuts is a LA favorite, so much so that my friend insisted that we swing into before leaving for our road trip. I have to say, I’m thrilled she was so persistent!
These donuts are, literally, melt in your mouth savory. Like everything you’re hoping a donut would be… except vegan style! Now, not all their donuts are vegan. They do have regular donut that are gluten-free. So this place is definitely catered to a specific individual but not necessarily toward allergens, as all donuts are made with almond four (so, not for friends with tree nut allergies). I got the Vegan Lemon!

I would loveeeee to know your favorite vegan spots in LaLaLand. So leave a note in the comment below!
I cannot wait to go back and add to this Best Vegan Food in LA list! Again, my first stop is hitting up the Vegan District, Downtown. Til’ next time, LA! 🥬
